Three Treats Too Many by Debra H. Goldstein-Character Guest Post-Spotlight

Character guest post Sarah Blair is Worried!

I’m worried. Lately, things have been going too well for me. In January 2019, when Kensington introduced me, Sarah Blair, in the series named for me, life was a lot different. As was explained in One Taste Too Many, I’d married at eighteen, divorced by twenty-eight, was working as a law firm receptionist, and had traded my luxury lifestyle for an efficiency apartment where I lived with the only thing I got out of my marriage – RahRah, my Siamese cat.

During the past year, even though my mother, boss, and everyone else repeatedly tells me to leave solving crimes to the proper authorities, I’ve demonstrated a knack for sniffing out murderers. Or maybe I sniff around so much that they eventually find me.

Besides fingering the killers in cases where my sister and mother were the primary suspects our local police chief focused on, I’ve managed to personally grow. As you’ll see in Three Treats Too Many, I still have the same job, but I’m a little more confident. Part of that may be from personally growing, but I think a lot of it comes from the feeling of safety I have living in the carriage house RahRah owns.

In fact, the only cloud on my horizon, or for that matter interfering with my family and friends being happy, is that the Wheaton, Alabama building inspector is dragging his feet signing off so my professional chef twin and her chef boyfriend can open their Southwind restaurant. I don’t know what the delay is, but the inspector allowed my nemesis, Jane, who I prefer to call Bimbo because she’s the reason my husband left me, to open her restaurant directly across from theirs two weeks ago. It’s doing fantastic business – especially with the vegan dishes it is serving.

Hopefully, things will work out soon and there won’t be any more murders to investigate. I don’t know, but I’m still worried another shoe is going to drop. Do you ever have a sneaky fear in the back of your head like I’m having?
When a romantic rival opens a competing restaurant in small-town Wheaton, Alabama, Sarah Blair discovers murder is the specialty of the house . . .

For someone whose greatest culinary skill is ordering takeout, Sarah never expected to be co-owner of a restaurant. Even her Siamese cat, RahRah, seems to be looking at her differently. But while Sarah and her twin sister, Chef Emily, are tangled up in red tape waiting for the building inspector to get around to them, an attention-stealing new establishment—run by none other than Sarah’s late ex-husband’s mistress, Jane—is having its grand opening across the street.

Jane’s new sous chef, Riley Miller, is the talk of Wheaton with her delicious vegan specialties. When Riley is found dead outside the restaurant with Sarah’s friend, Jacob, kneeling over her, the former line cook—whose infatuation with Riley was no secret—becomes the prime suspect. Now Sarah must turn up the heat on the real culprit, who has no reservations about committing cold-blooded murder . . .
