So proud of this boy and his Mama . . . 

Our daughter took 2 students and our grandson.  We had an amazing day filled with fun!  A favorite way to spend a Saturday!

Our son and his family live in Missouri.  My DIL is a photographer.
She captured this fence for me . . . 

                                 
  I can imagine walking barefoot through that grass and maybe finding a horse and riding bareback through the field.    Awe beautiful day dreams!

Visiting Fort Worth Attractions

I love my hometown!  Fort Worth has some amazing places to visit.
A few weeks ago we had the joy of visiting the zoo.  
                                             
Today I am sharing a few of the photo's of the animals . . .
           
                       I managed a nice close up of this guy.  
We had a lovely spring day the day we visited.   It was a few days after a very bad storm.

The zoo does an excellent job of providing a beautiful place to visit as well as a great environment for the animals.   Sadly during the
storm quite a few of the Pelicans died.  The above photo was part of a news article about the storm.  Click on the source for the story.

We were grateful for beautiful weather . . . 

Although sadly some of the plants had taken a beating too.  And 
there were lots of leaves still on the ground. 
The primates weren't affected.  The have a huge enclosure and indoor area . . . 

He looks like he's thinking about eating the lettuce he's collected.
                              
Sometimes you have to wait for the shot.  

And then . . . 

. . .You have to jog to catch up with the rest of your party.
Or just forget it and enjoy taking photo's. 
t looks like he's following that crowd ahead.  I don't know if it was a good thing getting him that scooter for the day.  We did spend a lot of time trying to 'catch up' with him.  He has moved that fast in years!
 
I guess we all had our distractions.  I kept stopping and taking shots of fences.  Thinking "Oh Tex would love this one!"

I did manage to get some great shots!

We need to go back and take notes next time.  We read the sign but I'm clueless now what these little guys are!

Everyone had a fabulous time.  Except . . . 

. . .The tatooed man that lost his phone.  He said his wife dropped it.  Hmm. . . I bet that's what they all say!

I loved the aquarium.  I spent forever trying to get a shot of a huge 
alligator.   I'll have to go back and try again!

Admittedly I did get more shots like this than the animals . . . 

  There are lots and lots of boy shots on this post.  I'd love you to go over and read the post.  It's a Blessing to see him running and jumping. 
Update . . . Next week he starts Karate again after a year and a half off.  Praise God!

And now back to the animals.  Today I'm only sharing one more. 
I have a few left for another post.  But I didn't want to leave without sharing this one.  We'll actually two . . . 

        Every Texas zoo needs a horse and a long horn!

The Fort Worth zoo is definitely worth vistin' if your every in the area!

A Photo And Story

                                   
Once upon a time a young boy looked at a white fence surrounding
an arena filled with sand.  He sat on the fence watching as the tractor moved around loosening the sand just right to provide the perfect footing.  The sand had to soft not firmly packed.  Slightly deep.

The boy watched and dreamed of one day being the one riding the tractor getting the arena ready for the rider.  

It wasn't his only dream.  He had much bigger dreams than sitting on the tractor.  He dreamed one day he would ride a horse.  Not just any horse and not just any kind of riding.  

He dreamed one day he would train a reining horse.  He dreamed of going to a futurity.  (a special competition for young horses)

So he got off that fence and he began to work.  He worked hard.  
He mucked stalls and filled a truck with horse manure and hauled it away.  Everyday after school he went to the barn and cleaned up. 

Everyday he watched other teenagers riding horses while he cleaned the stalls.

He built a library of books and magazines with information about reining and breeding.  And he studied.  Soaking in the knowledge that he hoped he would someday be able to use.  

He made it to that futurity with his horse. (which he had bred and trained himself)  He worked hard with that little filly.  They were constant companions.  

And then one day his eye wandered.  He noticed a filly of another 'sort'.  She captured his eye and his heart.    And then his dreams began to change.   

He never forgot his first love.  Even  though he began to chase two legged youngsters.  He never forgot his dream of  sittin' on that tractor. 

And then many years later.  It happened.  It wan't expected.  
Someone remembered that young man and the horse he rode in that futurity.  

The opportunity presented itself.  And now he's sittin' on that 
tractor.  Makin' that dirt just right.  

       And now his little girl is walkin' in that dirt and dreamin'.

Good Fences

I actually got to do a little walking around the area the other day.
Last week was beautiful.  We welcomed Spring. 
                                       


We have quite a few parks and walking trails right by our cottage home.  I looked for the ducks here.  Many years ago we relocated our pet duck.  I'm sure he's no longer her but I looked anyway.


No ducks but a few geese taking a break from thier travels.

The trails wind through the edge of neighborhoods.
And a golf course.



There are some nice benches along the way.  Us older folks enjoy them!

There are lots of sculptures in the park.

I've never seen this on a trail.  There are several mirrors.  It's an interesting place to find a fence or two to share with Tex.

Yesterday my grandson had surgery.  One of my daughters friends from church owns a local Farmers Market.  They brought a care package.

Negative Space . . . 
This prompt was a little hard for me.  Here's what I came up with

My mantle with nothing on it.  I've been planning a post sharing all the areas I normally decorate minus all the Christmas decorations. 
The mantle, the glass shelves, the breakfast bar etc.  This is a sneak preview.  heh

And then I found this I wanted to add.  I wrote a post yesterday for Good Fences this one would have been perfect for that post . . .
