Orange and On Line Friends

I have been seeing Orange today . . .

Spice and Clementine Rinds
Simmering in a pot of water
Orange Peels -Cinnamon Sticks - Whole Cloves- Nutmeg
The house smells like Christmas!

This fabric beckons me.

I tried to use it for another purpose.
It sits on the shelf and it calls to me.

There must be more Orange.  I have to think of something else.

A Favorite Decorative Item

It continues to beckon so why not play around with it just a little

Now that's kind of fun.  But there is more to think about than Orange.

How about On Line Friends . . .

Photo

Are you seeing a little bit of an "O" theme going along here.

Work In Progress Quilts

Do you every have those days that don't go as planned?
How about weeks. Or months?
This is one of those months for me in the quilting department at least.
I had plans to finish some projects.
I won't even bother to tell you about them. I did that at the beginning of the month. Sadly I didn't finish one.

But I did get some sewing done.

An unfinished project on it's last leg of the journey

I am a kind of fly by the seat of my pants kind of girl.
I rarely use a pattern.
This is one that I came up with just pulling a bunch of blocks together into a row quilt

I wanted the houses to look like Victorian Painted Ladies.
I added lace to the roofs

This one is a better close up of the lace.
This is a quilt that I did as class many moons ago.
I am kind of considering offering it as an online Quilt Along.
Anyone interested?

This is a quilt top that I did do this month.
I had all these Patriotic strips in all different sizes.
Being the fly by my pants girl I am I did my adapation of a Jelly Roll quilt.
I photo'd it vertically but it will actually be horizontal.
I plan to just do straight line quilting.
Using the Jelly Roll method I stitched this top in about 2 hours!

This is the one that started the Jelly Roll idea
I did this earlier in the month to go along with the Purple theme.
I don't know why it is so light.  I have really bad lighting.
The lite strips are actually a pale yellow with purple flowers.
To give the quilt a little brightness.

So those are the quilts I worked on this month.
I have had this goal to do at least one donation quilt a month.
At least I have one top on the final stretch!

I am looking for ward to finishing some UFO's in March.
Maybe I'll take the plunge and quilt the House quilt.

Wednesday Filled With Words and a Favorite Snap

I need a rock . . .

very cool  but not quite right.

More like someone to lean on . . .

So here's a Rock maybe . . . .  But nah not quite . . .

Now this is what I am talking about . . .

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Babies Grow Into Children . . .

. . . And children grow into teenagers.

Have you ever thought about the next 10 years?  Or the 10 years after that?

Are you still in the diaper or toddler stage?  Or maybe your enjoying car pools and waiting in line picking up grade schoolers
and rushing home and going through the nightly routine just waiting till it's time for everyone to go to bed so you could put your feet up?
Yesterday I posted some photo's entitled a trip down memory lane in Blue.  (for Blue Monday)  I got a lot of email and comments about these sweet photo's.

It was fun putting them together.  Remembering the times my kids spent feeding horses.  Riding in events and just basically enjoying everyday life centered around a horse.

We didn't own a ranch.  We didn't even have the horses in our back yard till our kids were in college.  But they spent every waking moment with those horses.  When they were old enough to drive they would leave school and go to 'the pasture' and they would be there till it was dark and time to come home.

We spent every weekend as a family.  All day Saturday we were at some horse event or another.

Do you spend time with your little kids on the weekend?  Are you at soccer games, or t-ball and baseball.  Or at dance recitals?

Have you thought about the teenager years?  They aren't so far away.

Spending time as a family is so important!  One of our favorite things to do on Friday nights was to go to our neighborhood
Barnes and Noble.  We didn't really set a budget we just told each kid they could buy one horse book for our library.  We would spend the evening searching and deciding on just the right book.
We would end up in the cafe with a stack of books and while sipping hot chocolate we would decide which ones we would buy.

Those were some fun times for us as a family.

Do have special things you do as a family?

It won't be long before you know it you'll be taking a walk down
memory lane.

Scavenger Hunt-Mosaic-Masterpiece

Let's go on a scavenger hunt - they are such fun.
Joining Scavenger Hunt Sunday.  Today I am taking a stroll down memory lane.
Each of the photo's below found on google images brought back many memories for me.
                                                                         Enjoy

Clues for today are

Time To Eat

It's a lot of work taking care of a horse.
They eat and lot's of hay and grain.
                                            And a few carrots.

Getting Ready

Every weekend there is a Rodeo or a Playday to go to.
Playtime

A Play Day is a Rodeo like event for the family.
There are events for every age division.
A great way to spend the day with the family.

Sweet Dreams

It can be a really long day for the littlest Buckaroo's.  But that's ok they can find lots of places for a power nap.

Scrub-a-Dub

After a long day of horsing around it's nice to
take a loooong soak in the tub

Blue Monday--Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time there was a little boy all dressed in his favorite.
His favorite color of Blue Denim . . .

puppy love
He walks along a beautiful beach with his faithful companion by his side.  And he remembers . . .

summer vacation . . .

a tired calf
Riding along with his uncle (dressed in Blue of course)
boots and old truck

He remembered the old blue pick up he actually got to drive it out in the big 'ole field behind the house.  He had to promise not to tell his mama.

He remembered watchin' even little kids ride and ride

Rodeo future
And they all sat on the fence and watched the Cowboys.

And every day he walks along the beach and he counts down the days till summer vacation!

And when summer arrives the story will end happily ever after.

Are you dreaming of summer vacation?  Where would you?
