Christmas in July | Denver Mart Drive In

It's a 'Thing'
Did you know?
Well I say
Yes
I love Christmas and well I could go with Everyday.  How about you?
Or at least the feeling of Christmas
Well until Christmas Everyday becomes
A Thing
Let's go with just a fun week of
Memories
Baking
Decorating
Reading
and whatever else pops up.
Today I am sharing Christmas Trees and memories and a few books with links to 'deals' and Giveaways.
Here are a few Christmas Memories

2009
A precious memory

This was just after the afternoon nap I didn't notice I should have combed his hair.

Rachel Anne over at Home Sanctuary got me to thinking about Christmas traditions and decorating. I remember when I was a young and actually not so young mom I was a little festidous about how things needed to look.
Actually that is why the kids had trees in thier own rooms. That was when we moved to our dream house and we had a tree in every room. The trees in the living areas needed to look just right.
Actually I think the whole idea of the children having their own trees is a good idea if it is done for the right reasons.

Mine weren't. And that is just one of those things I wish I could do over. I wish I had been a little more relaxed in some areas.

This is the tree that the toddler decorated.

And by the way remember the ornaments that weren't used on the trees in the family and living room well this is part of them. Somehow or another when I went to get ornaments out the only box I could find was my son's box. Hence cats. There were a few random ornaments mixed in with greenery and candles they made thei
r way onto the tree too.

And if you look really closely some are clumped together. And some spots are empty but that is what happens when a toddler decorates the tree.

There is nothing like the scent of a 'real' Christmas tree.  I remember waaay back I guess probably like our 1st or 2nd Christmas we were broke.  LOL.  Weren't we all back then?
We didn't have much money at all but we stumbled onto a 7/11 that marked the trees down to $10.00 we snatched up the fatest one we could find and drug it home.  It was the best tree ever!
As I write this I am thinking I need to dig out old photo's and dust them off and find that tree.
. . .to be continued
Until then

One of my favorite trees.  Actually it's more about the packages than the tree.  Another sweet memory and giggle moment for me.  Can you see way over on the left the Maroon bag?  It was my daughters Soccer bag from high school.  It is filled with carrots! (for her horses) Yep I stumbled onto gosh I am not sure 10#'s or more they didn't all fit in the bag.  I love the photo's on the packages.  And the messy tree skirt is my wedding dress.
What a memory

Another tree from the same year.  I realized I had more than enough Snowmen for a fun tree.  All shapes and sizes.
Last year in the summer room.  All Cabin'y' feelin'

The Horse tree in the living room.  There is next to no lighting.
So hard to get a decent photo.
Remember that toddler?
Still precious
This was the hardest pic to take.  But I was determined.  Domino and a Christmas house guest.
I love photo's with Santa
Because

Believe in the Reason for the season.
For God so loved the world he gave his only son. That whoseover believes in Him will have everlasting life. John 3:16.
I hope you enjoyed my memories as much as I enjoyed sharing them with me.

I'd love to hear about your memories.  Leave a comment and share one with me.

Need to get into the spirit

**Giveaway #1 entry post**
I'll be honest. I've never had a real Christmas tree. In fact, I prefer the pre-lit trees. I spend all that time I saved by not stringing lights on the tree to heavily decorate my house!
To enter the giveaway, tell us if you prefer a real or artificial Christmas tree.

Food blogger Hope Early takes on a cold case that's heating up fast . . .

Building on her recipe for success with her food blog, Hope at Home, Hope is teaching her first blogging class at the local library in Jefferson, Connecticut. She’s also learning about podcasts, including a true-crime one called Search for the Missing, hosted by Hope's childhood friend, Devon Markham. Twenty years ago on Valentine's Day, right here in Jefferson, Devon's mom disappeared and was never found. Finally Devon has returned to solve the mystery of what happened to her mother—and she asks Hope to help.

The next day Hope discovers Devon's apartment has been ransacked. Her laptop with the research on her mother's cold case is missing, and Devon is nowhere to be found. When her friend's body is later discovered in a car wreck, Hope is convinced it's no accident. Clearly, Devon was too close to the truth, and the cold-blooded killer is still at large in Jefferson. Now it's up to Hope to find the guilty party—before the food blogger herself becomes the next subject of another true-crime podcast . . .

Includes Recipes from Hope’s Kitchen!
