Location scout and Jane Austen aficionado, Kate Sharp, is thrilled when the company she works for lands the job of finding locations for a new film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, but then her boss, Kevin, fails to return from a scouting trip to England. Afraid that Kevin has slipped back into some destructive personal habits he struggles with, Kate travels to England to salvage Kevin’s and the company’s reputation before word gets out that he is missing. Things go from bad to worse when Kate arrives in Nether Woodsmoor, a quaint village of golden stone cottages and rolling green hills, only to find no trace of Kevin except his abandoned luggage. Even the rumpled, easygoing local scout they consulted, Alex, doesn’t know where Kevin might be. Increasingly worried about Kevin and with an antsy director waiting for updates about the preproduction details, Kate embarks on a search that includes a pub-crawl and cozy cottages as well as stately country manors. But Kevin remains missing, and she begins to suspect that the picturesque village and beautiful countryside may not be as idyllic as they seem.

This was a fun fast paced sit on the edge of your seat Cozy
Mystery.
I was kept guessing who was the villain. Mainly because a secondary plot line develops in the story. The book begins when Kate goes to England to search for Kevin her boss who has gone missing while scouting a location for a movie. Upon arriving in England Kate is sad to find Kevin has disappeared leaving his luggage in the inn where he stayed. Kate wastes no time in recruiting the local scout that Kevin had been working with to help her retrace Kevin's activities.
When Kate and Alex accidentally discover a car that has gone over a bridge and is completely underwater they are shocked to discover that it is Kevin's car. The mystery thickens when Kevin's body isn't in the car but is found further down stream. The pair begin to have more questions than answers.
The police realize that there was no accident and begins to investigate 'everyone' including Kate.
As Kate is told to 'not leave town' by the formidable Detective Inspector Quimby. she decides to do a little investigating on her own with Alex's help.
Along with Kate, Alex, Detective Inspector Quimby there are some fun and interesting characters that has the reader wondering just 'who dun it'?
The story ends with the mystery solved and Kate returning home.
The reader might be left a little disappointed but not for long.
Kate barely arrives home when she receives a phone call from Alex offering her a job helping him scout locations for a documentary.
Maybe there a little romance simmering.
I enjoyed reading Death in the English Countryside. I look forward to reading book two and picking up with Kate and Alex.
