Blog 365 #13. Foodie Friday

 Wow where did the week go?

Seems like yesterday I was writing my Saturday post! 

I'm not real sure where the week went.  

But let's try and see what at we ate!

I cooked a favorite.  Pot Roast and regular favorites 

Another favorite Chili Rellenos, canned Refried Beans (new brand) best canned we ever had!  And Rice a Roni all I had.  It was ok.

We had gone out during the day and he was too tired to eat.  I opened a can of Chicken and Dumplings.  He ate it all and dessert.  Huh.  

Love the new mug I got him for Christmas at Big lots going back on Wednesday to get me one!

The Turnip Greens were great.  The Dickey's  Brand Barbque Beans were Pork n Beans.  Not a keeper!  Dollar Tree Brand Hamburger Helper o.k.  if I buy it again only making half.  It makes a huge pot!

And he ate all his Eggs!

Chili Tacos.  Super yummy.  He doesn't  like Tomatoes.  This isy plate I was too lazy ...actually  tired to Chop them. 

Made a soup kinda meal from the Pot Roast really yummy!

  

Chocolate  Chip Muffin mix made into a loaf.  

Loved it.  Much better than Muffins! 

Lunch at our favorite  Mexican place  . . .

And then this is what he wanted for dinner . . . .

I tried the Sausage thing only ate a couple bites.  

The next day we had a treat . . . 

A car picnic . . . 

I love this pic.  He thought I was silly taking a picture of the sign!

Blog 365 Post 12-Get out Town Cake Recipe - Family Favorite by Author Cathy Mc David

My friend and Author Cathy McDavid is sharing a family favorite 

This was a family favorite my late mom made every year for my grandfather’s birthday and during the holidays (she’d decorate it with green and red sprinkles). And before you say, yuck, tomato soup, give this recipe a try. It’s way better than you think.

Tomato Soup Cake Recipe

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

Prepare two 9-inch round cake pans or one Bundt pan with ‘baking’ cooking spray, or butter and flour.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until done. A wooden skewer comes out clean when done. Test with a toothpick or wooden screwer in the very center of the cake.

1/2 Cup softened butter or shortening

2 Large eggs

1 1/4 Cup sugar

2 Cups all-purpose flour or 2 1/4 cups cake flour

4 Teaspoons baking powder

1 Teaspoon Baking soda

1 1/2 Teaspoon ground allspice

1 Teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 Teaspoon ground cloves

1 Can condensed tomato soup (10 3/4 ounces)

1/4 Cup water

1/2 Cup raisins-optional

1/2 Cup walnuts-optional

Cream butter or shortening with the eggs in a large mixing bowl. Add the sugar and beat until sugar begins to dissolve.

Measure the dry ingredients including the spices into a separate bowl. Fluff with whisk to mix.

Alternate the dry ingredients with the soup and water into the butter/egg/sugar mix. Mix just until incorporated.

Fold in nuts and raisins if using.

Evenly divide the batter into two prepared baking pans and spread evenly or pour into Bundt pan.

Bake

. Cool for 10 minutes before removing the cake to wire racks.

Frost with cream cheese or buttercream frosting.

Blog 365 11 Cruisin Galveston Wordless Wednesday

 

 

Blog 365 #10 No Red Here . . .

 . . . Almost. 

A few days ago I began changing over my Christmas holiday decorations to a Winter theme.

I have been noticing most of the designers suggested loosing the red and going all white and neutrals.  

The neutrals isn't an option (none in my meager closet and no Hobby Lobby on island) for me but . . . 

I have a few Snowmen and so I decided to leave the tree up and transform it . . . 

I mentioned yesterday my kitchen island peninsula gives me fits.  It is a catch all but it is a cute place to decorate.  Here's the red . . . 

I didn't completely pack it all away yet . . . 

My sweet little lamp has a Snowman so it stayed out. 

But look at all that red!  And then look over here . . . 

I laughed when I got ready to snap this one . . . This poor guy is right in line with Lola's tail!   

I see Red everywhere.  I thought this little  frosty guy was cute.  I found him at my mother's.  His hat comes off.  

Maybe I need to hide candy inside. 

More Red and some Green.  And guess what I found when I started prepping to take a few snaps?   A Santa Claus inside the bucket.  See the hanger sticking out.

Blog 365 #9 Busy Monday

 Boy is my Monday Busy starting off with post #8 of 365.  Thank you my friend Sandra for sharing this idea! 

Baking is #1 well actually #2 after getting this post be written . . . I will be Busy baking a Pecan Pie for the Cowboy.  Pecan is one of his favourites and probably the easiest pie to make on a Busy day! 

As soon as this post is published job #2 is finishing my post for My Reading Journeys.  Today I will be Busy on social media introducing my author friend Cathy McDavid.  Every Monday I am Busy featuring a different author in Mailbox Monday.

Make Everyday a Holiday

Around the house I will be Busy cleaning, sweeping and mopping, and organizing.  I need to declutter that Peninsula island in the kitchen.  I have a love hate relationship with it.  I added my new Winter sign 

Now I need to get the counter clean for that pie. 

I have been Busy transforming Christmas into a Winter Wonderland.  Yesterday I got Busy putting the rest of the silver,gold and Snow balls in the tree. 

I cleared the glass shelves of all the Santa's and displayed my small collection of Snowmen.   We plan to be Busy this year adding Snowmen to our collection.  It will be a fun project that will keep the Cowboy Busy. 

The Cowboy has joined my Prayer Pocket project and goes to Amy Lane the Christian Gift Shop here in town.  We spend time Praying in the Prayer Room.   We are Busy coordinateing and Praying for this new ministry. 

Mondays seem to be super Busy  around here.

Blog 365 #7 Happy Homemaker in Texas

 Hello Welcome to my regular Saturday feature  . . .

The weather 

Don't hate me.  We live on Galveston Island, Texas!  

We have had sun and mid 70's.  If it rains it is usually overnight.  We might have a 20 minute shower in the day time. 

Right now most days are in the 70's.  

As I look out my window

My porch is ready for spring plants.  Although it gets up to 70's some mornings are chilly and a bit windy so I have to wait for plantings. 

Right now I am 

Thinking about starting seeds in the house.  I bought starter pots and Basil,Tyme and Lettuce seeds. 

 Thinking and Pondering 

I have been doing daily scripture writing with a FB group.  I am enjoying my mornings in the word. 

In one group we have a daily scripture.   A word to study.  And a word to doodle . . . 

I am not good at the Doodles.  It challenges me.  Some are easy like this one. 

On my bedside table 

A couple Bibles and a silver jewelry box. 

On my TV tonight 

Me I would choose Beat Bobby Flay or another cooking show. 

We might try to find something on Magnolia Network. 

He might be in the mood for a movie.  

It's a toss up

Actually I ate cereal late so I didn't eat lunch. 

He had toast for breakfast then leftover Fried Cod . . .

Monday 

Hamburger Helper (off brand) I found at Dollar Tree.  We like Beef Stroganoff but don't like the new recipe H.H. has.  This is a test.  I will probably add Black Eye Peas and Turnip Greens

Tuesday  

A small piece of Prime Rib and a little Kielbasa, Fried Cabbage and Fried Potatoes 

Wednesday  

Beef Pot Pie and Cherry Pie for dessert

Thursday  

Poor Man's Chicken Fried Steak, Mashed Potatoes, Dickey's Barbque  Baked Beans

Friday  

Homemade Pizza
