Why I chose this book to spotlight
It seems like ages ago I got an invite read and review Candidate For Murder and well I loved it.  It was my first introduction to Lauren Carr and Gnarly, Mac and the gang.  
Gnarly in all his 'attitude' not sure how to describe him cracks me up.  

I'm not sure which book it is in because I have read all I can get my hands on that he wouldn't allow the UPS driver to make a delivery until he got a dog bone.  And then there was the wallet he stole I think he's done that several times and Pizza from people trying to have a picnic in a park.  

The storylines and plots that Lauren Carr gives us are fun sometimes quirky but full of action and suspense.  

I have loved them all!

Hello thank you for joining us for Dog Days of Summer! 

We are so excited!  Let’s chat a bit . . .

August is one of our hottest months here in Texas.  When it’s hot where you are what is your favorite afternoon past time to chill a bit?

 Since I live on top of a mountain in West Virginia, my front porch is usually tolerable, unless the humidity is out of control and there's no breeze. I enjoy reading out there.

What is your favorite vacation spot to beat the heat? 

I love the beach, although we haven't gone for a few years (we have three kids in college now). I look forward to a season of life where we can all go again.

It’s too hot for chocolate what is your favorite summer time treat?

Smoothies are a fun and healthy option. My fave smoothie is made with frozen strawberries, spinach, banana, vanilla yogurt, milk, and peaches/nectarines if I have some around. I'm one of those weird people who isn't crazy about ice cream. Another treat I enjoy is iced coffee!

You’ve just written ‘The End’ how do you celebrate? 

 Honestly, I rarely take time to celebrate the end of my books, although sometimes I'll go out to eat with my hubby or grab a special coffee drink for myself.

There’s nothing like a good summer romance.  What speaks romance to you?

The loyalty of my husband and the way he really takes time to get to know me is what I'd call real romance.

Since we’re really here to talk about dogs what is the one breed

that you would love to have?   And why? 

Great question. I had a Shiloh shepherd and she passed away last year. Someday, I plan to save up and buy another one. I loved that she was personality tested, so we knew she'd be a couch potato and she'd be great with kids. Shilohs are like long-haired German shepherds, and they're bred to be gentle (although they look quite fierce). Here's where we got ours: https://www.firesideshilohs.com/.

My new Borderdoodle, Agatha, is a bit more of a distraction than a help when I'm writing, but she is cute.

Why I chose the book 
Are you kidding me?  What could be more fun than a Coffee Shop and dog Rescue/Adoption center.  I loved the concept. 
I loved the characters.  Macy was headstrong and determined. 
Bo was supportive and secretive.  Hmm.  I enjoyed this one 
so much I can't wait to read more.  I love a cliff hanger and this one has a bit of one along with the happy ending!

We are so excited!  Let’s chat a bit . . .

Sure thing! So happy to be here!

August is one of our hottest months here in Texas.  When it’s hot where

you are what is your favorite afternoon past time to chill a bit?

I am quite content to sit in the garden with my wee little fan going and a diet root beer for a special treat. In northern California it isn’t too terribly hot so most of the time I try to be outside.

What is your favorite vacation spot to beat the heat? 

Hmmm. Well, my favorite vacation spot is Death Valley, but you have to go in the winter, so I’m not sure that answers the question. Yosemite is also quite lovely and cool.

It’s too hot for chocolate what is your favorite summer time treat?

Cool and creamy key lime pie! Oh my! If only it was good for me, I’d eat it every day!

You’ve just written ‘The End’ how do you celebrate? 

I usually just wander around in a daze and look at all the home chores that have piled up while I’ve been banging on the keyboard.

There’s nothing like a good summer romance.  What speaks romance

to you?

Little things, like someone who makes you a cup of coffee, or brings you a sweater when you need it. Papa Bear and I have been married 25 years, and he always tucks me in at night, even if he is going to stay up late.

Since we’re really here to talk about dogs what is the one breed

that you would love to have?   And why?

 I am a huge fan of the mutt. I have no aspirations to have a particular breed. My beloved Nala was a shepherd mix and the current Junie the Wonder Dog is a terrier, doxie mix. She is quite naughty, but we adore her. This is a picture of my sweet Nala. She was just the BEST dog and we still miss her.

Is there a dog in your life that help you with your writing? 

The aforementioned Junie is our current dog. She is usually sitting close to me in the garden, protecting me from squirrels and lizards while I write.

 Is your book (the one we are featuring) based on a special dog in your life?

The dog on the cover of Sit, Stay, Love is a real dog rescued by Muttville here in San Francisco. They specialize in finding homes for senior dogs. As a matter of fact, ten percent of my royalties for this book are donated to Muttville.

I am launching a new series with Sourcebooks in April. It’s a mystery series featuring a woman sleuth who owns an ice cream shop and her sidekick is an old dog named Noodles! It’s been a BLAST to write!
