The weather has been off and on beautiful in this part of Texas.
Our grandson is asking to ride every chance he gets.

That makes us smile

Date Night?

So have you had a date night lately?
Or a day date with your Mr. Wonderful?

Dating is sooo not what it used to be.  I feel sorry for the younger generations.

Back in the day we had dates like this . . .

Image result for 50's couple on dinner date

Or maybe like this . . .

We went to places like the zoo . . .

Or an amusement park . . .
Roller Coaster:

Maybe an evening of bowling . . .

We'd spend hours . . .

Talking on the phone with that special boy.

Now that special boy

Sends me a text between appointments to ask me to dinner.

Yes.  Times have changed.  We really don't have 'date' nights.
I miss them.

Do you?

Disclaimer...None of the photo's are mine.  They all came from google.  And, I wasn't dating in the 50's.
My dates were in the 70's.  And the last photo isn't  The Cowboy he has alot more hair.

Sunday Sketch and A Little About Me

Alexandra over at Blue Chair has a fun little Sunday linky party.
It's a place to share your sketchs.  Today she's added prompt . . .
A Little About Me . . .
I'm going to share my sketch first because I love it . . .
Lookie, Lookie at what I drew!
                       T:
Isn't it adorable.  I'm so pleased with my sketching. It's not complete
and I'm not so enchanted with the background.
But I figure I can cut out the sketch and add to a better background!

And now a little about me . . .
I love mixed media.  It's my new passion.  quilting is on the back burner. I've been spending the last couple of months buying supplies. I visiting Hobby Lobby, Michael and Walmart only because I got a gift card for Christmas.  But their acrylic paint is alot cheaper.  I might go back for more.

I love to read and reviewing books.
I love blogging.
I love horses.
I love to cook.  I'm not enchanted with the clean up.
I love shabby, I love rustic, I love simple
I love dishes.
I love kids.  I love teaching.  I am a pre-school teacher.
I love comments on my blog and to visit everyone.

I'm so 'over' my current job.

I'm in the process of getting a nanny job.  I am super excited at the possibility!  Would you say a little prayer for me.  And for the family that is waiting to find a super nanny.

There are a few/alot of things I dream about....
Gardening
A House with a tiny yard but big enough for veggie's and flowers
A second bedroom/crafting room
A maid that will clean up my kitchen after I cook. Hehe
Having both my kids near me.  Thank God for cell phones.
Working part time

Dislikes . . . A few
Olives and Honey (me too Alexandra)
Neighbors  that don't say "hello" when they pass you walking their dog (and that don't pick up after their dog!)
No comments on my blog
Cold...Snow and Ice (I do love to look at it)

So that's a little more about me!  I hope you enjoyed my lists.

Step By Step--A Book Review

STEP BY STEP

Step by Step is book two in the Crisis Team series.  I was intriqued to read this book because I am a Chaplain and have had to respond in Crisis situations.

I think the author did a wonderful job of weaving a fictional story into the subject.

As a former ER nurse Calvert has 'real life' experience that is woven into her story lines.

I loved visiting Ms. Calverts webiste and learning about her as an author.

I found this quote . . . "Solid characters, real life and sweet romance." author Varina Denmane

I have to agree those three phrases describe this book completely.

From the back cover . . .
Three years after a tragic accident left her a widow, ER nurse Taylor Cabot is determined to move on, checking off one item after another on her survival list. Her relationship with a handsome plastic surgeon even gives her hope for the last point—“fall in love again.” At least until crisis chaplain Seth Donovan steps back into her life, reawakening unanswered questions about her husband’s death.

While in San Diego to train community volunteers, Seth hopes to learn why Taylor is backing away from the crisis team and from their friendship. But nothing prepares him for the feelings that arise when he sees Taylor again . . . and sees her moving on with another man.

When a community crisis hits home and puts lives at risk, emotions run high and buried truths are unearthed. Will hope make the survival list?

And now for my thoughts . . .
The first few chapters are faced paced and drew me in.
That was short lived and settled into a little routine and predictable.
At least I thought routine and predictable
I  began to have the feeling of there’s gonna be a bit of a villain here and began predicting something maybe a little sinister goin on. The main characters husband did die and she had questions.  So why not sinsiter?
By the half way part I was pulled into the sub characters and their separate stories.
The stories wove together into the main story and kept me interested and wanting more.
So much more that by the end I was wanting  the storyline to continue.

Admittedly there is a great ‘twist’ at the end that kind of threw me off on my predictions.

Isn’t that what makes a great story?

I was thrilled to see that the next installment is scheduled for the Fall.

I only wish I didn’t have to wait that long!

My rating . . .
I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.  Mainly because I did get a little bogged down.
Part way through I was waiting for something to happen.
By the end I wasn't disappointed.

15 Minutes . . .

What can you accomplish in 15 minutes?
Today I am joining The Loft and writing on the topic of Bible Study.
A few days ago I wrote about being tired.  I won't bore you with linking to that post.  It was rather whiney.
But I do want to mention it.  I did write about being tired.  What I didn't mention is I miss Bible Study.  I'm so tired that I haven't taken the time to read my Bible.
I am working on illustrated scripture.  And so I'm working on specific verses.  And looking up verses.  But actually sitting down and reading.  Has been on the back burner.
Oh I am reading posts.  And listening to the local Christian Radio.
But Bible study.  I'm sad to say hasn't been a priority.
Which is silly really.  Because I know that being involved in my Bible.; and being involved with Father God would definitely make every day easier.
But.  I have no excuse.  Except. I'm tired.  Your probably thinking well why are you blogging.  Why are you visiting other bloggers.
It simple really.  I want to encourage you.
I could be spending 15 Minutes a day in a little short study.  And occasionally I do.  But not regularly.
Can I take this moment to say.  "Do as I say. Not as I do."
And, can I encourage you if your in a situation is similar to me to check out this wonderful short devotional.

This is the version I have.  I love this devotional.  There have been a few reprints.

This is the current version it is available at Amazon.  And I'm sure at all the other retailers.
I kind of have to giggle because I remember when I bought mine back in the day before Amazon.  I bought mine at our local grocery story.
The world is different 'now a days' there is even a Kindle version.
So really. We have no 'real' excuse not to get into a Bible Study.
Except . . .
Tired. Because I have an idea that a lot of you are tired.
But.  Can I encourage you. To spend just a few minutes whether in a 15 minute study.  Or just writing in a prayer journal.  Just a few minutes 'Being Still' can rejuvenate you and give you energy to get through the rest of your day and 'Warm Your Heart'

DIY Tip-Repost

Today I thought I would re-share a post I wrote a few years ago.
this linky party is no longer active . . .

Monday Tip and Home Sanctuary Challenge

I found this cool meme over at 11th Heaven and decided to participate. Because I have been wanting to share this cool idea that I came up with.

I recently moved to a new house. No not new in the sense of brand new home. In fact it is anything but that. It has new carpet. New yellow paint in the living room which btw I love. New crown molding throughout the house. New ceiling fans. New wallpaper in the bathrooms. (which I could live without). And that is where the "new" stops. Abruptly! They didn't make it to the most import room the kitchen.
This kitchen is a through back to the well let me show you. I think this photo will give you a glimpse.

Yes it is what you think it is geese or ducks from like the 70's maybe anyway just pretend vintage! LOL. The cabinet doors are white but the rest of the cabinets are the same lovely light baby blue from that lovely era!

Well these geese were in the drawers and on the shelves. When I moved in I had a couple of rolls of shelf liner. Used them up and ran out. I happened to have a roll of this. So I got to thinking about what I could do. I didn't want just the brown drawer showing under the clear contact paper so here's what I came up with.

I know it is a little hard to see but this is an actual 'after' photo of the drawer. Frugal as I am (not but choice in most cases) I had to use my scanner but hopefully you can see and get the idea.

Now the inside of the drawers have this primitive looking red check fabric secured under the contact paper. I just love it. Every time I open my drawers and see it I just smile.

So if you are like me and you want something pretty for shelves and drawers and don't like what you find in the stores try this idea.
BTW I had one roll of the bumpy sticky stuff that is supposed to be good and safe for your dishes. I hate it. When I have a couple of extra minutes I am going to replace it with fabric and contact paper!

Let me know if you try my idea. I would love to hear from you. Please leave a comment.

Sorry some of the photo's aren't so good.   I was really pleased with how my drawers and shelves turned out with the red check that I am seriously thinking of transforming my current kitchen.
It was such an improvement to that old farm house.

I miss that little old farm house.

Thanks for letting me share it with you!  Hope your day was Fabulous!

Fridays Hunt 2

Joining Teresa at Eden Farms for Friday's Hunt a party to share photo's from a theme that Teresa chooses . . .

This weeks challenge: Start w/ B, Outside and Week's Favorite.
Here's mine
Starts with B ...
T:
A sweet little Birthday Cake box that my DIL made me for my Birthday.  It opens up and you can put 'Bling' inside.  The Cowboy didn't 'get it'.  There wasn't any Bling inside. Maybe next year! LOL

Outside. . .
Eagle:
It was so hard to get this shot with my phone.  We were driving home from church and I barely saw this flock of birds.  All I could see was big and black.  The Cowboy turned around and we realized they were Bald Eagles.

Week's Favorite. . .
T:
I was beginning to take down the Christmas ornaments.  I took the ribbon off and my grandson began to play with it.  The roll slid out and it looked like a telescope!  So I had to get a shot!

Do you have a favorite photo.  Or an inside shot.  Or something

Pall/Good Fences

Sharing today a sweet photo that happened to appear on Facebook.
I don't even know those sweet little girls.

But I know the Paint horse on the right!
This is Pal and his friends at Christ's Haven in Keller, Texas
Christ Haven is a children's home.  We donated Pal when we lost the last piece of land available for rent.  (That's when we began living in apartments.)
It was a hard time.  But it was great to see Pal making a difference in children's lives.
These girls we volunteers in the riding program at Christ's Haven.
Pal was a precious boy.  Everyone loved him.  Hence his name
Pal.  We bought him as a not so precious 3 year old.  His papered name was Sir Knot.  The Cowboy called him "Knothead".
He became our sons horse.  He grew up and out of that "Knothead" name!
I'm thankful thankful that he is still remembered and that these sweet girls shared this photo so I could see it!

Random/Update. . .

Image result for tired
Hello friends,
I mentioned a few weeks ago I started a new job.  Although the money was what we've needed.  I'm worn out.
Image result for tired
I went from 10 3year olds a day.  To 13 18 month olds a day.  I am sad to say it's too much for this old woman.
Image result for tired
I was promised an assistant.  And, I do have one for 1-2 hours a day.  She stays in the room while I take a lunch break.
Image result for tired
This is me in the morning.  'Cept I don't have a purple robe. LOL.

Please forgive me for not posting regularly.  Please forgive me for  not visiting.

Image result for praying
If you could say a prayer for me I would be so grateful.

I'm praying that God will open the door for something different.  I've actually considered a nanny job.
I've interview with an agency and going through that process.

It's just kind of long and I just hope I can hold out.

I've also put in applications at local groceries.  Not my first preference but I need to work.

So, if you can pray for me I'd appreciate it.

I'll be coming by and visiting for sure even if I'm not posting.
