A Sweet Spirit?

Today I'm sharing an archived post and picture story with Wit and Wisdom.  It's still relevant.  Enjoy.

                                        A Not So Sweet Spirit . .

. . .
I never know what to expect when I arrive at the halfway house. In fact I was there early in the day for a luncheon board meeting. Our meeting room was being used and we waited for awhile before deciding to start the meeting in the day room. Then when the room became available we had to move in the middle of the meeting.

Not such a sweet spirit

When it was time for Bible study/ Reading Group the girls were in the middle of a movie because staff was having a meeting in our room again.

Well when our room was ready what was I to do? Tell the girls to turn off the tv in the middle of the movie. I patiently waited and finally staff decided to tell the girls that it was time for reading group. 6 of the 12 girls decided to come to the group.

We took a little diversion from our regular text we have been reading Women of the Bible a wonderful study book that has daily readings beginning with the story of the woman written more like a novel it is followed by history and then prayer and devotion. I love the book.

We read last night a Cowboy joke book because we wanted to talk to the girls about prayer and about the new building project. My Cowboy began telling them about the project and before he could even ask them to pray one of the girls said "let's pray now." . And we did. She said Let's hold hands and we prayed. There was a sweet spirit in that place.

Those girls lifted me up and God gave me affirmation. What we are doing is making a difference. They are learning what we are teaching them. I am learning patience and I am learning to Wait on God and trust him. I am stumbling trying not to step out on my own and work at making the new building a reality but I know that if I put my faith and trust in the Lord that he will lead me where he wants me to go and I know I will find A Sweet Sweet Spirit.
The above story is a repost.

I chose to share this special story because of the prompt from last Fridays 5 Minute Friday at Katie's blog.
The topic was "Yes".  A lot of the ladies shared their struggles with listening to God and following through
with saying and doing "Yes" to him.  I shared here my recent 'Yes' story.

Dear Friends I am here to tell you that when it seems like the hardest thing.  Or the most unlikely thing that God is asking you to do that it will indeed turn out to be the biggest Blessing you can imagine.
The years that I spent in ministering to these girls were the best years of my life. (Aside from my kids.LOL)
There were times it was hard.  There were times when I felt like it wasn't worth the effort.  And then God just laughs at me (I think) and he allows A Sweet Spirit to take over and show me that it's all worth it.
Yes. . . It is worth it.

Care

I needed a topic today.  Joining 5 Minute Friday for the perfect topic for how I am feeling.
Five Minute Friday hosted by Kate at Heading Home is a link with a topic.  The rule is you write for Five Minutes without thinking hard.  Just what pops into your mind.  No editing.  Just plan sharing what is on you mind or heart.

Care
Go . . .
I care.  I care about how you feel.  I care about how the people around feel and react to me.  I want you to feel that I care.  I want you to feel loved.  I want the people I see everyday to know that I care.
I want them to see Jesus through me.  I want you to see Jesus through me and know that he cares.  And I hope that you care.
I hope that the people that I see everyday 'care' about me and how I feel.  Because sometimes I just am not sure.  I care.  And I feel.

Stop

Sometimes I need you to care.

5 Minute Friday--Release

The Prompt....
Release
Go. . .
I have to remind myself.  To ask Father God to remind me that
I am released.  Released from the burden of sin.  Released from
being separated.  I have to release myself from guilt.  From
discouragement.  I am not only released but I am redeemed.
Why?  Because I am a Princess.  Yes.  I am a child of the one true God.  The king of Glory.  I am released from all burden of guilt and shame.  I can live in peace.  And when I forget I only need to ask Him to remind me. Because I am His. Stop.

Five Minute Friday--Messenger

Joining Lisa Jo and her flash mob of bloggers.  Writing on a topic for 5 minues.
Here goes . . .
Start. . . Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ-Romans 10:17
Messenger,I didn't marry a Preacher.  I married a loving Christian man that really didn't know how to show love.  Although he grew up in church and accepted Christ as his savior as a teenager her struggled/s with showing love.  He didn't learn it at home.  His father was saved shortly before his death.  As a couple we've always gone to church.  We tried to absorb the message and become Christ Followers.  But, my husband continued to struggle with how to express himself and show love.  He worked in the corporate world.  He was actually nicknamed 'hatchet man' on one of his jobs because he was so drivin' and expected so much from others.  Other supervisors actually asked him to supervise their staff when they had problems.  He was a hard worker.   He was a hard worker for the Lord too even while he was in the corporate world. We went to Sunday School.  We planned parties for our class.  We went to visitation on Tuesday night.
He enjoyed working and was so driving that he tended to neglect the family.  That father influence breaking through again.
A few years ago he was asked to go on a mission trip to Ghana. I didn't think much about it because we had gone on mission trips together to Mexico several times.
But,  there was something different.  He came back a changed man.  To this day I don't know what exactly changed him.  I know who but not what or how.  I remember when he came back that I knew God was changing our world.  And I actually prayed that he wouldn't send us to Alaska.  He answered my prayer.  He sent us back to Texas.  And my Cowboy the man that can't show love has learned through God how to share His love to teenage boys that are in prison.
I am married to a Preacher.  He is a Messenger of God's word.

Five MInute Friday--Nothing

Five Minute Friday a topic,This is the place where once a week we take the chance to just write, and not worry if it’s just right or not. Five minutes flat. Here’s how the game works: you simply stop, drop and write. Set your words free. Don’t edit them, don’t fret over them, don’t try to make them perfect. Just plan simple writing.
Please note this topic/post is not my normal cheery, encouraging
post.  Today instead of being the encourager.  I need encouraging.

Go...Nothing it's always the same.  Nothing changes.
No phone call, no text.  Oh there's the occasional. . . 'Mom
will you babysit.' Beyond that nothing.
It seems that I've cried so many tears that nothing would be left.  But there are always more.
There more tears cried.  The more prayers are prayed it seems that the nothingless becomes bigger.  The chasm
gets wider.  When we're together there is nothing to talk about.
I cry more.  My heart breaks.
And then there is Peace.  It breaks through the nothingness.
It's a Peace that pass all understanding.  Because I don't
understand.
I can only trust.  Believe and hope.
Stop.

Five Minute Friday--Imagine

I can only Imagine what it would be like.
So many ways to complete that phrase.
I Imagine one day when there is no pain.  When there are no tears.
I can only Imagine a day when I don't have to trust that my Lord is holding my tears.

These are the imaginations of what it would be like.

But till then I Imagine what it would be like to know what to do.
To know which step to take.  Too many questions and decisions are taking over my thoughts.

So many silent dreams.  Unspoken dreams that only he and I know about.  I Imagine what it will be like when he reveals to me.  Or I understand what he is revealing.  When I know which step to take.

I can only Imagine

Trusting along the Journey

5 Minute Friday

Joining Lisa-Jo and talking about Ordinary

5 Minute Friday is a link up where Lisa-Jo gives the prompt and then we write for 5 Minutes.  Set a timer and write.  Just what comes to mind.  Just what God puts on your heart.  No second guessing, no back tracking, no editing.  Just freedom.

Here goes . . .

Ordinary

Start
I'm just an Ordinary girl.  Going through my old almost boring to some people Ordinary day.  But to me it is extra Ordinary.  I love my life.  God put a spirit in my soul to be just Ordinary me.   Just an Ordinary mom and wife.  An Ordinary keeper of the home.  But if I think about it there is
nothing Ordinary about being a keeper of the home.  Many years later after my kids have grown and started families of their own I look back and I see there is nothing Ordinary.  And so I give myself a title.  The title of CHO Chief Home Officer or Organizer depending on the situation.  Looking at that title there is nothing Ordinary about it.  I love my little ordinary days.  I love that I am able to stay at home and be a helpmate to my ordinary 'ole Cowboy Preacher.  Ordinary is good.  Ordinary one day becomes Extraordinary!  Just wait you'll see . . .
Stop

Loving My Ordinary Journey
