You guys are back

Hello dear sweet friends and sisters...I got you back. All I had to do was just add the followers button back you came along!
Good to see you all. Now you have to keep on coming by and leaving me a comment even when I'm not posting because I miss you all and I need to feel loved!
Many Blessings to all

Supplier of needs

There is a verse somewhere that says something like And my God shall supply all my needs... It will be my memory verse next week because as I sit and type I realize I don't remember the rest.
How sad is that? As I write about how he supplies I can't even remember the rest of the verse or even where it is.
If you are a follower of this blog you know that I have not been able to post a lot since October. But God provides and some days I get to come to my daughters and use her computer. Or on days that we go into our donated office space I can write. Usually each time I only have a few minutes.
For that reason when I changed the look a couple of weeks ago I lost some of my followers and didn't get to add them to my side bar. I'll work on that I promise. You guys know who you are because I come by and visit when I get to a computer.
And, once again I am running out of time. I only had a few minutes while the baby sleeping I say was because the dog started barking and woke him up. Anyone want a kick dog!
Sorry...God does supply our needs and the photos below are one example. I borrowed them from Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom. Sandra I hope you don't mind!

God does supply for us. In June we moved to a different house. It was God's grace and provision we found our house. And, our current landlord.
He has been gracious and patient with us in our financial situation.
God is patient with me in my struggle to trust. I have a really hard time trusting and waiting.

Our landlord has always wanted fresh vegtables and fresh eggs and so he has asked us to put in a garden and raise chickens for him. The only catch is he wants tomatoes and lettuce. We get to plant anything else we want. And boy do I want rows and rows of okra!
Like my friend Sandra I have always wanted to have some chickens.
And soon we will be having a bunch of little ones running around.
Our God does supply everything we need in his time.
Thank you God for your provision. Thank you God for your patience with me.

Word Filled Wednesday

One of my favorite days is Wednesday and getting to go by Amy's and seeing all the amazing illustrations of God's word.
I usually don't get to do my own post because I go to the food bank at 7:00 on Wednesday morning so I usually borrowed Amy's wonderful verse.

I got such sweet comments about yesterdays post I thought I would post it here for WFW.

Psalm 90:14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Many blessings dear ones.

Memory Monday on Tuesday

My Bible memory verse this week
Psalm 90:14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that
we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

I thought this was a fun photo. I hope you like it. I chose the verse because I need to work on being joyful in all circumstances. God gives me many blessings like the little boy in this photo. This is my grandson. Sometimes I forget how blessed I am

I pray that as I work on this verse this week that I enjoy my time with the Lord as much as he is enjoying this popsicle.

Psalm 90:14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may
sing for joy and be glad all our days

Mission 4 Monday . . . My Mission

Today I want to share my new personal mission. Through our ministry I get lots of fabric donated that isn't appropriate for quilts which our girls make for the needy.
This fabric I have the girls make pillowcases as their first sewing project. But I still have an abundance of fabric and so. I am now making pillowcases myself. These I will collect and give to either a local women's shelter or give them away in case of a disaster. I made 22 pillowcases over the weekend. I didn't get to take photo's but I will and post them for you guys soon.
I hope everyone has a great day.
I am off today to spend the morning with my beautiful daughter and the grandbaby.
See you all tomorrow.
In case you didn't come here from Peggy's go over and check out the other Mission 4 Monday posts.

Thankful Thursday

I love daily meme's. Some people are so creative and give us such good ideas like
Iris at Sting My Heart. And when I am able to post I probably will continue to do Thankful Thursday on My Journey.
I mentioned in the fall that God had placed it on my heart to use this blog not only as an online journal and a way to be creative but to use it for him. As my memory verse this week says. And so I am going to be selective in which of the meme's or carnivals that I do here. My other blog My Home Sanctuary is where I'll be posting also so come and see me there too.

Here's my Thankful list for today in no particular order.

1. Propane gas and God's provision....it has been really cold here. Winter isn't my favorite season for sure! It always seems to be colder when we have some really nice days and then another cold spell. But we got some gas today (God's provision) and our house is warm and toasty.

2. My computer. I love my computer. I know I always seem to say something about my blog friends or blogging. I sound like a broken record. But I really love my laptop.

3. My landlord. I am thankful that he is a Godly man and that he listens to God. He is patient with us when we are late on the rent. And now he has given me the task of putting in a vegetable garden and chickens. (go to My Home Sanctuary to see posts on my gardening adventures) It is amazing how God works.

4.My daughter got a new job. It is another God provision. She had worked for a large company and got laid off in November. It was difficult for her to find something to replace the income she was used to making. And, because he prior job was flexible it was easy for me to keep the baby and still do my ministry. God provided a wonderful opportunity for her. She is working at a local store called
The Nesting Place. She had gone there for childbirth and breastfeeding classes. She called the owner last week and asked if she needed help and they did. The amazing thing is she gets to take the baby to work.

5.My daughter the "Momma" I am thankful that my daughter is such a good mommy. She is amazing. Here are a couple of photo's of them.

6.And last. This one should have been first! God's patience with me. God is patient with me when I worry and fret. And when I do things without talking to him about it. And when I just get too busy and just neglect talking to him.

Here's the verse I have been working on this week. (From memory)
Colossians 3:17
And,whatever you do in word or deed do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus
thanking God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17

May all that I say and write be pleasing to him.

My New Look

Oh I love my new fun springy look. I know it is early but I am dreaming of Spring. Are you? Maybe this will make you smile.
I got this Fabulous layout from Lena and it was cool because it was free. Thank you Lena. If you want a pretty layout check her out. And she has some great tutorials and she walked me through it all. It was simple.

I lost my followers and don't know how to get them back. So you guys if you can do it when you visit please help me out. Thanks so much for coming by.

And please don't forget to read my Wordfilled Wednesday post below. Go over and visit Amy and be Blessed by all the other posts there.

Have a Blessed Happy day.
Sherry

Word Filled Wednesday

"And, whatever you do in word or deed do it all in the name of the
Lord Jesus giving thanks to God the Father through him." Colossians 3:17

Welcome to my very first ever Word Filled Wednesday hosted by Amy actually it isn't really my first. But the first that I chose my own photo and verse.

I found this photo awhile back when I visited Then Sings My Soul Saturday. There was a post there about Companion Dogs and I visited that site. It has always been on my heart to train companion dogs. And possibly the door may be opening for that to happen with the girls at the halfway house. We just got approval to have a dog at the house.

The verse I chose is my memory verse for the week. Here it is again. Hopefully typed from memory.

Colossians 3:17 "And,whatever you do in word or deed do it all in the name of the
Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Colossians 3:17

Well that wasn't great but close so I am off to work on it again and visit a few more WFW posts.

Blessings to all. Have a great day!

Pray for a friend

I planned to add this verse today when I found it on a friends site yesterday. I mentioned my quest to hide God's word in my heart and as I visited friends yesterday I saw lots of posts about the samething.

I went back to get this photo and added it to my blog as my verse for the year. It will stay on my sidebar.

Today I ask you my friends to please pray for the special friend that illustrated these amazing words of God and who gave me the idea to dedicate one verse for this year for this blog.

Dear Rachel Ann is in a lot of pain right now. She only recently told us all that she was expecting and wrote a wonderfully amazing post about God's love. Please keep her and her family in your prayers. One of my favorite verses is in Psalms
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit Thank you father for putting your arms around Rachel and showering her with your love.

One Stone

I learned something today that I know will encourage or delight you depending on where you are today.
I am encouraged by this little saying.
God will move your mountain, even if, it's one stone at a time.
I am realizing that I need to take one day at a time and not spend my efforts worrying.
I need to reach out and feel God's love and be thankful for my Blessings.
I get to play all day with my grandson who is now almost 8 months old and happily playing in his bed.
Last week was tough because we were going through that clingy I want to be held stage. Then it was the you can't leave my sidestage. Both including tears everytime I sat him down to play or moved to another room. Even favorite toys which didn't appease(I want to write about soon. I am thinking a grandma's blog here.)
But thankfully it seems to be passed now.
My daughter got a wonderful new part time job that hopefully will turn into full time. She is working for The Nest Place. A store which sells baby items and also offers childbirth classes and nursing classes. She loves it and she gets to take the baby with her. So I keep him 3 days while she is at another part time job and then on Thursday and Friday he goes with mommy to work.
I think they will both really enjoy the time together and it will be good for him. And a break for me.
Tomorrow I will bring my computer with me and hopefully we will have a good day and I can write and add some photos.
I miss that part of blogging. I actually miss being able to read everyday all the amazing things that you guys are writing. It Blesses me to see you ladies of all ages writing about what God is teaching.
So until tomorrow I will close and wish you all a Blessed evening with your families.
I am leaning on God and trusting him.

Mission Monday

updated at 3 p.m. I have been able to visit some friends today and even make some new friends. I found a fun giveway at devotionaldaze.com I just know you will all want to join. Mimi has a fun little blog over there. Go over and check it out. Below is my Mission Monday post. Thanks for stopping in.

I have been thinking the last few days about what I wanted to write about today. Since I am not able to post very often it is getting hard to figure out exactly what to write about.
But since today Peggy at mazmagi.blogspot.com hosts Mission Monday I thought I would write a little about our ministry.
Where to begin is the hardest part.
We minister to teenage girls and boys that are incarcerated in our states juvenile prison.
Mainly we we work with girls that are ending thier sentence and living in a halfway house.
We plan and hold monthly activity nights. Each night includes a fun activity and a devotional.
We also provide job training classes and we have different people come and talk about thier jobs. It is a fun time and this week we have a gentleman that is coming to talk about panning for gold in California. I was so surprised when I met him last week and he told us what he does.
He was part of a small praise band that came for our January activity night. They sang and shared thier testimonies.
One of my jobs is to recruit new mentors and we had a new lady there that night to visit and meet the girls. She is a long time friend and has worked in our ministry since it began 4 and a half years ago. She took a year off and is now back. I was excited Friday to receive her email that mentioned a new girl that I had just met on Thursday asked the mentor "What does it mean to be a Christian?" It was a blessing to me to see that God was working that evening even when I was out of sorts with the entire event.
I know that sounds horrible. But here's why. We had a planned dinner. Each monthly event we prepare a meal. We didn't have the money to feed the girls and the volunteers and invited guests and so two days before we had to change gears and figure out what to do. I had the job of letting the voluteer that recruited the praise band to tell them we wouldn't be able to feed them after all.
That was hard for me. I was frustrated for days about it.
We did serve dessert and God took what we could give and he used it and he reached out to the girls that evening.

One of the other things that we do is we provide a food pantry for teenagers that are already out of prison and on parole. Saturday we delivered food to a family that consists of a 74 year old grandmother and a 93 year old grandmother and an 8 year old boy. The boys brother was on parole but died recetly. We learned of them when they came to the parole office to let them know the boy would no longer report. We began taking food to them. One thing in the box this week was pizza rolls. The boy was so excited he asked to microwave and eat them right then! He had never had a pizza roll! He was also excited to get Raisin Bran. The down side is they will have to wait to eat it till they can get milk.
I know as you sit and read this your wondering about the circumstances of this family.
I know like me you see comercials for all the work that is being down in other places of the world. It seems or appears that these places are getting so much attention. With large advertising budgets and well known sponsors and endorsers these larger organizations are able to help so many.
It saddens and frustrates me everyday as we try to accomplish what we do.
This ministry working with these kids is such a joy and a blessing to me.
Everytime I visit the halfway house or work at the food bank with the girls sorting groceries to be distribute to other families I am touched by the need for love that these girls have.
My hearts desire as a younger woman was to have lots and lots of kids. My husband was happy with the two that God blessed us with and wouldn't agree to having more. For a long time I was frustrated and angry and prayed and prayed that God would change his mind.
Now so many years latter I see the whole picture. I see why God didn't answer those prayers. Because I have so many kids to care for and love.
I wish that I could share photo's with you today. But I am on my daughters computer and I don't have any photo's. I am not sure when I will be able to post again but. If I get to come back next Monday I'll write a followup post and hopefully put up some photo's. Our website is underconstruction and hopefully will be back up in a couple of days too and I'll share it.
Thanks so much to all my faithful friends for stopping in and leaving encouraging notes.
I am still working on my personal quest to memorize more of the word. I look forward to a time when I can share some of the things I am using and the ways that I am learning.
Until I get to write again. I give everyone wishs for a warm winter filled with lovely memories.
Blessings,
Sherry

New Years Devotion

Thanks again to all my friends that visited over the holidays and left such kind thoughts and words of encouragement when I have been absent.

I have missed all of you. And I have missed writing. A short while ago I felt like God was encouraging me to make some changes to my blog. Changes in content and what I write about.

One of my favorite things is my home and my family and I found that I tended to write about these things often. Partly because I have found such inspiration from Rachelann at Homesanctuary.typepad.com. (I am sorry I cannot link it from this computer) and I want to give her credit for so much of my inspiration and the Simple things I do to make my Home a Sanctuary. If you have not met her please go over and visit and watch the video that she just posted. She is truly a Provrbs 31 woman. And by the way I have another blog devoted to Home Sanctuary please visit it Myhomesanctuary.blogspot.com

But as I prayed and visited with God I realized that he was leading me to use this medium My Journey to share with anyone that stops in about where he is taking me on this journey. And to share his love and how he can be a source of Joy,Hope and Love.

As I read through my archives and worked on the What happened in 08 post I was reminded of my meager effort at scripture memory. I made attempts by writing posts and for awhile I did a fairly good job.
But then like most New Years resolutions I got caught up in life and ministry and neglected that. I began having camera problems and problems downloading my photos and then toward the end of the year we had to make some financial adjustments and well what had to go was cable t.v. and the internet.

And so for the last few minutes I have not written much. I have the opportunity now to write and post and to read your blogs while I am babysitting. Sometime I can bring my computer. Sometime's like today I use my daughters. So some posts will have photo's some won't.

But with all that explanation I hope you are Blessed a little by this post. As I was thinking about what I feel God wants me to do. I remembered that I want everything I do be pleasing to him the verse below came to mind. And so I want to begin this New Year with a new desire to learn more about God and to hide his word in my heart.

I don't have a real plan. I just intend to do what I can to memorize his word. I'll post when I can. And try and illustrate when I can.

And, I challenge you my friends to do the same. Because I realize that when I struggle all I have to do is rest in his word and reach out to him and allow him to search my heart. He answers. We just have to listen. We just have to act. And so as verse 16 says I pray that I will please God by using this place to share some wisdom, to sing some praises, and I pray God uses me to teach.
So today I give God the glory and I devote this blog and the words written here to Bless God in Jesus'name.

Colossians 3:16-18 (New International Version)

16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
17And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Happy New Year

Hello everyone. Thanks for coming and visiting me on memory lane. It was fun looking back at all my posts.
Sorry I couldn't add photo's.
Thanks for the sweet thoughts and words of encouragement!
The baby is much better. We have all had a little cold and sore throat but all better I think.
And today this moment as I type he is at my feet playing on a teepee toy that we absolutely love. I'll have to search for a photo and post it.
And the sun is out!
I have felt like I was with a few of you that are in cold places the last few days. It wasn't as pretty as last year no snow but we had ice yesterday! And it has been cold.
It always seems to me to be colder when we get a nice warm spell and then another few days of cold.
I hope this is the last one.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week. I will try to post again soon.
Now I am off to visit everyone.
Blessings,
Sherry
