Welcome to Tea Time Tuesday.
What constitutes a successful tea room? One that brings you back again and again?
I’ve had the pleasure of visiting multiple tea rooms, and not all are created equal. Some have a great atmosphere, but the food is mediocre. Others serve quality food, but the setting is unusual. (Is a room devoted to Elvis really necessary?) In my favorite tea room, all the components come together to offer a memorable, pleasurable experience. Polly Claire’s is located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and is housed in the historic Dent House. I’ve been many times and taken family members and friends. The elegant rooms and place settings, the attentive wait staff, the wide assortment of loose leaf teas and delicious food keep me coming back, even though it’s a two hour drive from my home. There’s also a charming store on the property where you can purchase tea, delectable scones and other treats, as well as other gifts.
Maybe someday I will write about a tea room. Although I’m not sure I’d want to set one in a suspense novel. My recent release, Mountain Murder Investigation, is partly on a college campus and partly in a quaint mountain town adjacent to the Smoky Mountain National Park. It’s the third book in my Smoky Mountain Defenders series, which features mounted police characters.
Searching for answers brings danger in the mountains.
Faking his death was the only way for architecture professor Aiden Ferrer to stay alive. Especially when he was targeted for finding evidence of a cheating ring at the university that left one student dead. But threats against his ex-fiancée, mounted police officer Raven Hart, coerce him out of hiding. Now, with the clock ticking, they must expose the identities of all university members involved before the killers strike again.
