Dinner At Grand Ma's-Sunday Supper

Do you have fond memories of  Sunday meals at Grandma's?
My fond memories with my family center around Summer Sunday evenings at my grandparents.
Stock photo found on Google
This isn't my family but it could have been the year is pretty close to correct.  This photo reminds me of my Grandmother covering the table with newspapers.  I had forgotten that memory till now!

I wish I had the fore site to grab the table.  But I was the youngest
I didn't get the chance.  I remember it looking pretty much like this.
It would be cool now days in a vintage trailer turned 'She' shed.
Don't ya think?

Maybe your memories are more of  Granny cooking

Sadly I don't have those memories.  I was 15 when my Grandmother (that is what we called her) died at 104.  We think.
I think that's pretty accurate but she tended to add a few years.
It was a little hard to be sure since she had a full head of hair it was jet black.  She knew how to use the dye!

Do you have memories of special things Grandma cooked?

Source
"Grandma would be standing in front of the stove, turning cloves of fresh garlic in a pool of sizzling oil, and forever stirring her big pot of gravy"

Because my grand parents were older I really don't have a lot of
memories.  I have many more memories of my Mother cooking.
No photo's but lots of memories.  Pies.  She made lots of pies.

I love this saying.  There is always lots of Love coming out of
Grandma's kitchen.
I love the Goose Berry Patch cookbooks.  I don't have this one but I bet its a great one.  I love all the extras these cookbooks have.   The drawings are always fun.

This is how I remember Grandma's Kitchen
Do you have found memories?
Are you making memories now?
Lot's of memories are made in Grandma's kitchen!
Sometimes we all need that second chance. Thank goodness for grandmothers! http://thestir.cafemom.com/being_a_mom/185225/20_quotes_about_the_love

Happy Homemaker In Texas

Welcome to My Happy Homemaker Post
This party is hosted by Sandra.  She provides prompts.
But I add a few of my own.

The weather
Pretty much the same.  Rain, clouds some thunderstorms.  We have had a lot of rain in the last few weeks.  I have to make sure not leave standing water in pots because we are getting Mosquito's.  Ick!

On my reading pile
Pretty much the same as last week.  I am always adding to my pile.
I had the thought last week to see what I could find at my library to 'listen' to.  I had a review offer on a book recently and I got the
Audible copy.  I loved it!
Murder by Perfection (A Thorny Rose Mystery Book 3) by [Carr, Lauren]
Many of you know I review books.  This one and all of the books by Lauren Carr are 5 stars.  I am not really sure if we as reviewers are supposed to have favorites but I do!  Don't tell.  Check this one and all the others out!

What I am reading now
Glitter Bomb (A Scrapbooking Mystery)
Am I the only one that recently found (introduced) to Laura Childs?
I love her cozy mysteries.  The first one I read was from her
Tea Shop series.  Glitter Bomb is a fun read.  I already skipped to the end to read the recipes.  Cajun Food.  Yum. Yum.

On the t.v.
Waiting

I am thinking
I am glad to be finished with mothers apartment and being able to be home today (Saturday) for the first time in 6 weeks.

Dinner tonight

are as good as his!

On the menu
Monday-Guacamole Chalupa's (w/leftover beans), Spanish Rice
Tuesday - Tuna Casserole, Salad, Bread
Wednesday - Dinner with M.I.L.

Well about that menu...
The only thing I did get done was the Bratwurst but I did it

My 'Ta Da' moment
Yesterday we finally finished clearing/cleaning out Mothers apartment.  I left the key in the mailbox.  Went home breathed a sigh of relief after unloading the car and I put my feet up and poured a glass of wine!  Done.  Finally.  Ta Da!

My 'To Do' list
Lots of things from Mothers to 'fit it'.  I worked on sewing room today I need to work on the outdoor room/green house.
Mowing the grass

In the craft basket
I found some yellow yarn in Mother's things so I started these. But I found a problem with the pattern.  Even had one of Mother's friends in TN.  look at the pattern.  I still plan to do them but need to figure out the mistake and work through it.

In the garden
Lots of new treasures from Mom.  A hummingbird copper wind chime.  A metal shelving unit for the green house.  Three different
stand decorative trellis supports.  Some adorable metal edging with birds on it.  3 nice pots she had her caladiums in.
Lots of plans for my new treasures!

From the camera
This one may look like the one I shared last week but it's not.
I took this one last night while I was sitting drinking that glass of wine.  I managed to catch her sleeping.  I cracked up when I noticed how the throw is scrunched up under her!  She had a long hard week too!

I hope your week is wonderful!

Have A Good Day-This/That

Good Morning, Enjoy your Saturday, God Bless You
I hope you have a Blessed Day
This is my first Saturday home in over 6 weeks.  I just finished moving the computer so I wanted to leave a quick post.

I am super busy today playing catch-up and moving things around. .
But I am going to relax today too.  I planned to get my HHMin Texas post up probably this evening.

I brought mothers sewing machine and cabinet home so I am putting it in the spot where my computer table was.  That is next on the agenda after I move the crafting table to a new place in my bedroom where I plan to do my paper crafting, Bible Journal
all paint paper related activities.
All in all I think this will be a much better set up.

So now I am off to move stuff.  Have a Happy Day.  I'll be back!
Today is a good day today very happy about last night. Just looking forward to Tuesday now for a brew with a very close friend who I love so much.

More Craft Basket Plans
I am so gettin' to Hobby Lobby this week.  I need.  Really need to make these!

In the garden
The Zinnia's are blooming again.  The Rosemary and Basil is thriving.  I am planning on potting up some of the Basil to move to the green house.  I sure would like to check out the nursery's for more herbs I can start in the green house.

From the camera
This pic just cracks me up.  The Cowboy was sweet and moved Mothers chair (isn't it lovely) into 'His Room'.  He moved her t.v. too so she could have a 'sitting room' if she had guests come in.
I am sure she will love the flag on the wall!  Domino is keeping her chair warm and cozy till she visits!

Book Review-The Spirit Of God Illustrated Bible

About
The Spirit of God Illustrated Bible,  brings to life more than 40 Bible stories that help kids understand that God’s Spirit has been with us since the beginning of time and continues to be with us today! Old and New Testament stories such as Adam and Eve, Abraham, Joseph, the Baptism of Jesus, and Pentecost come alive with dramatic illustrations and meaningful text that showcase God’s Spirit. The unique cover shines with beautiful foil and makes it a storybook Bible you and your kids will want to read again and again.

And I thought
An awesome story Bible for the family.  The stories are easy to read and short enough for younger children.

They are not written for adults and it might be thought that they are a little 'off' in some instances but you have to realize and remember that it is a children's version and meant to be written in a way that children can understand.   I did not find this negative.

The illustrations are creatively childish to capture young ones attention.

I enjoyed reading these stories they are written in a way to keep the young ones interested.

This would make a great purchase for the family and is perfect for
bedtime family reading.

I would also use as an add on to Home School curriculum for young readers.

The book is a nice hardback.  The pages are a nice heavy weight.

I recommend this Bible for families.  It would make a great gift.

Zondervon provides some resources including examples and info about the artwork (Click here) .  There is also a trailer click here.

I received a complimentary copy.
My review will appear on retail sites and Good Reads.

Happy Homemaker in Texas

Sandra at Family Corners hosts HHM.
She provides the prompts
I add a few of my own

The weather
More of the same.  Showers, sun and clouds.  In the upper 80's.

On my reading pile

What I am reading
Glitter Bomb; Hardcover; Author - Laura Childs
I started this one on Saturday.  I received a print copy.  I am finishing up Par Cinderella from last week.  I am enjoying this series.

What's on your t.v.
Leave me a comment and give me an idea of something good to watch.  The Cowboy has set mothers little t.v. up in his 'man' cave room.  We have a card table and puzzle there.  So he's been working puzzles and watching old game shows!

I am thinking
That I can't wait till things get back to normal around here.
Hopefully the 1st of the month will be a huge change.  This month I have been cleaning out my mothers apartment.  I have to be done by the 30th. Say a prayer I get it done!

Something fun to share

Last weeks menu (What worked/What didn't)
I didn't even plan a menu or get a post written! Bummer!

On my To Do List
At the top find a charity that will pick up mothers furniture this week!
Finish cleaning out the apartment.
Bring home dishes and the sewing machine and plants

My Ta Da moment
Can't think of anything.  Did you have a Ta Da moment?

What's in your Craft Basket?
I want to make these.  Still need to get to Hobby Lobby for the green yarn for Christmas Trees.  Now I need to add some sparkly white to my list.

In the garden
I plan to cut the last of the blooming Zinnias.  I have only cut a couple I let the rest go to seed.  There are some new ones sprouting. I wonder if the will bloom?

From the camera
Back to that Ta Da moment.  I got mother to leave her room and go to the lobby to see a dog!
Mothers birthday was Sunday.  I took cookies for the weekend.
She got a card in the mail so I took a pic to send to her friend in
Tennessee
