Today I am featuring a book/series by author Sunny Webber.
I had the privilege to read and review her books when she was on tour with I Read Book tours.
Why I chose the book
For Dog Days Of Summer I chose Hurricane Dog for 2 simple reason. I loved the cover. And the story reminded me of my
Domino. We've suspected that she ended up in the shelter in our town when Houston was evacuated from a Hurricane.
And well. I loved the story and wanted to share it!
Love this cover!
Back
of the Book Blurb #3
Hurricane
Dog
How a special relationship between a boy and his dog
changed federal law regarding the rescue of people and pets during natural
disasters.
Pit
bull mix Gator and puppy mill survivor Magnolia are abandoned during a
Louisiana hurricane. They suffer dehydration and starvation after rescuers take
their people to safety but leave the pets behind.
Saved
from their flooded house, Gator and Magnolia recover but remain homeless. Nobody
wants a pit bull. Gator’s resentment festers into intense hatred for Gavin, the
boy who left them to die. He vows to never trust again.
Transported
to Colorado with other refugee pets, Gator and Magnolia face the uncertainty of
a new life. Eventually they are fostered by a kind woman who seems mysteriously
familiar. Both dogs relax in their new lives until upheaval again throws them
into chaos.
Overwhelmed
by trauma, Gator and Magnolia cling to one another through change after change.
Will they be separated? Will Gator forgive the Great Betrayal and love again?
What
will happen to pets and their people in the next natural disaster? Can Gavin
change the rules of rescue? Will Gavin and Gator reunite?

Let's chat with the author!
Hello thank you for joining
us for Dog Days of Summer!
We are so excited! Let’s chat a bit . . .
August is one of our hottest
months here in Texas . When it’s hot where
you are what is your favorite
afternoon past time to chill a bit?
I lay out on my
patio on my swing, read, sleep, or deadhead my flowers!
What is your favorite
vacation spot to beat the heat?
It’s been a
long time since I had a vacation, but my favorite place is Hawaii —the
Big Island !
It’s too hot for chocolate
what is your favorite summer time treat?
It’s NEVER too
hot for chocolate! Ice cream drumsticks are my favorite, next to dark chocolate
pieces and red wine.
You’ve just written ‘The End’
how do you celebrate?
Take a walk
with my dogs and thank them for their loyalty, patience, and motivation in my
work.
There’s nothing like a good
summer romance. What speaks romance
to you?
Watching a Jane
Austen movie.
Since we’re really here to
talk about dogs what is the one breed
that you would love to
have? And why?
My favorite
breed is Australian Shepherds. They are smart, loyal, incredibly focused on
people, courageous, beautiful and loving. I don’t happen to have one
currently—my dogs right now are rescues. I’m a notorious “foster-flunkie.”
Is there a dog
in your life that helped you with your writing?
Insert photo if
available
My muse and
partner in life was an Aussie named Miles. He helped me begin my entire career
in animal welfare and writing.
Is your book (the one we are
featuring) based on a special
dog in your life?
No, the current
book is a fictional tale aimed at helping middle grade readers know that the
search for self is difficult but worthwhile. Once you find your true calling,
you must be true to yourself—regardless of push back from parents, peers, and
authorities who want to control you. It is also chock-full of humane education
information and how to see the world through a dog’s eyes.
How can readers connect with
you? Do you do book signings,
speak at events? Website other social media?

One last one that I am
itchin’ to ask can you give us a bit
Of a sneak peak at what you’re
working on?
Right now I am
designing humane education programs for Colorado Voters for Animals’
educational non-profit, Colorado Animal Protectors, and for Luvin Arms Farm
Sanctuary. I am also contributing magazine articles for pet publications around
the country.
Thank you for joining our fun
week of Dog themed books and posts!

Thank you for featuring my book! I appreciate your drawing attention to the themes--that all people, including children, can change the world with education and determination, and that loyalty to those you love will save the day.
