Favorite Picture Friday-The Story Behind A Favorite Picture

Welcome! I hope your having a wonderful week.  Today is the day that I share the story and a few of the suggested captions behind my Wordless Wednesday post.
A favorite photo taken about 8 1/2 years ago.  I loved the way he
is holding his foot!  I've actually posted this one before for a party a few years ago called Wit and Wisdom.  We shared a photo and
wrote a story about it.  Here's what I wrote back then . . .
Waiting
Momma said when I'm bigger I get to ride in a show.
So I'm waiting.   And waiting. And waiting.
                           Someday I'll be bigger.
I'll get to ride on that paint horse waaaaaaaaaaay over there.
Well I already get to ride him with a real Cowboy hat.
But I'm not big enough to ride in a show.
I sit real tall in the saddle just like momma says.  And I click my mouth to make him go.
But today I have to stand by this fence and watch everyone else ride.  I counted 10 horses.  And there are alot people.  Like maybe a thousand!
After the show when everyone is done riding they are going to cook hot dogs on a fire.  I'm waiting for that too.
Boy a boy sure has to do a lot of waiting around here!
Have A Great Day

Happy Homemaker In Texas

Welcome to my regular Saturday feature.  Sometimes it's a little
late but I try to get my Happy Homemaker post up anyway.
I join Sandra for the party
It was her 'brain child'.  Sandra provides the prompts but I add a
few of my own mainly because sometimes a prompt prompts a new idea from me.   Here's this weeks prompts.

The weather this is a regular featured prompt.  I think everyone is always curious what the weather is in different areas.
In my neck of the woods which is in the heart of Texas it has
been rainy the last few days.  Cooler temps came along with the
rain.  Yea.  Is it Fall now?  I didn't think it would every get here!

On my reading pile
A couple print copies and my Bible from when I was a teenager.
This is the Bible that I like to illustrate.  I don't have Journaling Bible.

What's on your t.v.
I am curious what your watching.  I am waiting for the Hallmark
Christmas movies.  Are you?

I am thinking
That I wish the Cowboy will help me check to see if we can get an
inter-net connection in our bedroom so we can move the computer.
I am hoping to bring my mother's sewing machine with a cabinet home this week and I need to move my crafting table which the computer is on now into our room.

Something fun to share
I've been planning for a couple of weeks to add a little something to my Thankful Thursday.  I hope you'll come by on Thursday to see what I've added.

And on Fridays for awhile or when the fancy strikes Domino is going to take over the post!  Watch for her first post this week.

For dinner tonight
I don't make plans for Saturday and Sunday because I never know what the day is going to be lie.    Tonight I have some Chicken Breasts left from earlier in the week and some Salad so I think it's going to be Alfredo.  Yum. Yum.

Dinner tomorrow
I love to cook Nacho's on Sunday.
Do you have a favorite Sunday meal?

The menu
Monday- Cheese Enchilada's, Guacamole, Spanish Rice
Tuesday- Chicken Dressing Casserole, Green Beans, Salad

Making God Smile by Kim Taylor Henry-Book Review

Making God Smile

About the book  (provided by Worthy Publishing)

More than just an inspiring daily message, this book leads you on a year-long journey of aligning your actions to your heart’s intentions. Making God Smile overflows with encouragement, reminders, practical tips, personal and inspiring stories, scriptural insight, and biblical teaching that will show you how to reflect love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. By embracing this fruit, others will see Christ in you and your life will be more than you every imagined possible.

From the back cover
Let the Holy Spirit guide your lives
Galatians 5:16
We all have good intentions for honoring God, but what happens when our actions don't match our intentions?  In the day-to-day
of busy families, rush-hour traffic, and endless to-do lists, it's easy to fall short.  The good news is: God knows we try.

Making God Smile leads you on a year long journey to intentionally live the fruit of the Spirit mentioned in Galatians 5:22.
Kim Taylor Henry invites you to focus on each of the fruit for forty days, in a specific order, to allow that fruit to grow strong roots and become a permanent part of who you.

And others are saying
"You'll love this engaging devotional."
Jerry Jenkins-New York times best selling author

"Kim Henry's encouraging daily guide
paints a beautiful roadmap for a Spirit-led life"
Patricia Raybon, award winning author

And I thought
I just want to make God smile.  This book/devotional had me at the
title.  I was offered a chance to read and review it and I jumped on it.  The title intrigued me.
It's 368 pages is filled with wisdom and is a practical guide.
It's a short study of the Fruits of the Spirit as well as a great devotional.

Each devotional is short and easy to read but filled with application and inspiration.  The author includes stories about her own journey.

Making God Smile is a devotional to savour.

The hardback copy (which is what I received) would make a great gift.   Check this one out for yourself or purchase as a gift.
Making God Smile would make a nice gift for your church library.
Amazon is the cheapest source at $12.37 but it is on sale now at CBC for $12.99

I received a complimentary copy.
My review will appear on retail sites and Good Reads.

Book Review-Fit To Be Tied by Debby Mayne

Fit to Be Tied
About the book
The Bucklin family loves each other too much to stay away. . . but not enough to behave

Being rich is fine, but when wealth comes from striking oil, it's a slippery mess for a family who doesn't know what to do with it. The Bucklin cousins are all together again, and this family reunion is shaping up to be another disaster.

Coralee falls for the police officer who pulls her over. Sally has finally found a guy, but now she's not sure a relationship is even worth the bother. No matter how hard Brett tries to avoid trouble, he somehow stumbles right back into the thick of it. And Marybeth and Bucky continue to fumble and bumble as they learn how to handle being rich.

The Bucklin family is known for drama--and Bucklin family drama knows no bounds.

And I thought
A great read filled with family and southern charm.  A modern day story with characters that just seem to tug at your heart strings.
Fit To Be Tied is book 2 in this series and you might wanna
read book 1 just because it's good too!
You'll giggle a little, laugh a little and maybe cry a little as family drama unfolds.
If you enjoy just a 'good read' checks the series out!

I received a complimentary copy.

I am thinking about Christmas I saw the cutest crochet ornaments on Pintrest.  And I found a new dish cloth pattern I want to try for
presents.  I hope to make some aprons for my girls and friends using mothers fabric and patterns.  My daughter has already asked for one for her M.I.L.

I do have a few Zinnia's hanging on.  They make me smile.

From the camera
He had to have his pic taken at one of our family's favorite places to eat.  It's downtown and we don't go often.  My daughter was taking a client to another town west of us to buy a saddle and they had to stop for lunch.
Wish I was there!  They didn't even bring me leftovers!
How rude!
