On The Fence?

Have you and your family made your decisions about Halloween yet you worry about what others say or believe?

I've had all these feelings and them some.

I've chosen Sunday to take the time to discuss this topic because I feel that I want to honor God and I pray that my words are received with
grace.

                            Source
You see I want to be on the fence with you.  I want to share the fence co-existing together whether we agree on the subject or not.

                                         Source
Because you see ultimately its my opinion we really won't know the answer until we are with the Lord and he let's know.

So until then I want to relax and share the fence with you . . .

Maybe you've done the research and read peoples opinions.  And read the background about Halloween and made your decision.

Maybe you haven't and you have questions.
Just in case you are still 'on the fence'.
The following list might help you decide or at least give you some information. . .
Please note I am including the following articles for information only.  I am not either agreeing or disagreeing with the content.

  • . . . Would Jesus avoid Halloween? blog post at Life of a Homeschool Mom. Click Here.

Yes. I am on the fence.  May I share it with you?
                                                                  Source
We could avoid our culture and bubble-wrap our children. Or, we could help them understand that as disciples of Christ we are called to be the “light and salt”. Did Jesus, who ate and drank with sinners, tell his disciples to hide from the world or to transform it?

This year I am not avoiding Halloween.  This year I am remembering my childhood and the fun I had trick or treating.  This year I'm remembering the the wonderful childhood that I had.  I remember the cold Halloween nights.  I also remember going every Sunday to a Baptist Church.  And honestly I can't tell you if there was a
discussion way back then about the topic.  I can't tell you if our church hosted alternative events or if the topic was boycotted.

This year I am taking a journey and I'm visiting new and old friends and sharing how they participate in Halloween.  I'd love you to come along with me.

Saga of a Scarecrow

. . . So I invited this Scarecrow for Thanksgiving

                 Source

I should have invited a Turkey.....

                                  Or two!
My scarecrow is not cooperating.  I mean seriously.  I am on a deadline here!
I had these plans to hang this quilt above the fireplace.
I'm thinking I need to regroup.  And make Turkey.
Or maybe something simple . . .
Be Thankful! Even though this is made from fabric, perhaps I can re-do it using scrapbooking paper...maybe put in a shadowbox frame? Hmmm....:
                                                      source
Seriously lovin' this.  I could whip this up in no time!
Oh my goodness there are too many wonderful ideas on Pinterest!
                           Fabric Pumpkin:
                                                                          Source
Oh my goodness.  I'm making a couple of these for the table and mantle.
And then something really, really simple for the wall above.
I'm thinking that scarecrow is gettin' retired for another year!

I've always wanted to make this quilt . . .

New from Primitive Gatherings! Lisa, I love this quilt..........simply marvelous!:
                                                                         source
Need to start for next year.  Would look great with that pesky scarecrow! The quilting is gorgeous.  And I love the added stitchery.

I have a better idea all together.  So simple. No fuss.  Well maybe a little messy.  But fast!  And I need fast!
this would be a fun shirt for the kids to make for themselves (and if I use fabric paint, I can save them for their t shirt/memory quilts I plan to make them when they go to college):
I'm so doin' this. Forget that scarecrow and his friends.  This year it's gonna be paint!
Our grandson is coming over tomorrow.  Perfect timing!

Wow what a load off!  Now I can relax and conquer that 'ole Scarecrow without a time line!

So who have you invited for Thanksgiving?

Good Fences

Still a few fences around these parts . . .
Unfortunately these kind are disappearing waaaaaaaay too fast.

The weather has been beautiful for a nice ride.

Sharing one more I actually swipped off Facebook. . .

Saw this little piece of fence and had to share it.
Yes that is actually a lemon.  A coworker of mine has got the biggest 'green thumb'.  I wish she could come over and wave her hand around my little flower pots.

Sharing with  Tex today.

Waiting on Wit/Wisdom

Welcome to Wednesday and Wisdom hosted by Linda Kay.
A fun place to visit filled with stories about photos.
Here' my little story for today . . .
                                                    Waiting

Momma said when I'm bigger I get to ride in a show.
So I'm waiting.   And waiting. And waiting.
                           Someday I'll be bigger.
I'll get to ride on that paint horse waaaaaaaaaaay over there.
Well I already get to ride him with a real Cowboy hat.
But I'm not big enough to ride in a show.
I sit real tall in the saddle just like momma says.  And I click my mouth to make him go.
But today I have to stand by this fence and watch everyone else ride.  I counted 10 horses.  And there are alot people.  Like maybe a thousand!
After the show when everyone is done riding they are going to cook hot dogs on a fire.  I'm waiting for that too.
Boy a boy sure has to do a lot of waiting around here!

I read the first couple pages.
                                             Stopped.

Mom Said It Was Dad

Sharing today with Linda Kay at Wit and Wisdom.  A silly story Daisy made up . . .

I was so excited my mom let me dress up in a skirt.  I love pink.  She even let me wear a bow.
I wanted one in my hair but it wouldn't stay so I wore it as a necklace.  Do you see my picture?
I was beauuuuuuuuutiful.  This picture was taken almost a year ago it seems like yesterday.
I was so excited about all the friends that came to visit.  They got to dress up too!
I was a really, really good girl and helped mommy give all my friends cookies.
And then something really, really scary happened a something came running by.  I didn't know what it was.
I was sooooo scared. I was too afraid to even bark. (which btw way I don't do very often because mommy says it's rude.  But sometimes I forget there is this really, really handsome Golden Doodle that comes by to see me.)
My mom said the scary thing was just my Dad in a creepy mask but I wasn't so sure!

My mom said I could have another fun party in a few weeks.  And this time she has a beauuuuuuuuutiful pirate skirt for me to wear!  I hope lots and lots of friends come.
Mom is excited that someone called Jake Sparrow is coming.
I hope he's not creepy/scary!

                                Maybe he likes cookies.

I wonder if I'll get to write another story? Thanks for reading my story.  I'm going to watch my favorite tv show now it's called Dog With A Blog.  (insert kiss)
