Wednesday Filled With Words

It's been awhile since I have had a chance to post my regular Wednesday theme.
I love Wednesday because it is a day I am just 'wordy' I share what is going on with me and I share some great illustrations of God's word.  And a little of what he is sharing with me.
I like Wednesdays because I can talk and talk and talk and tell you all that is on my mind . . .
I have been spending a lot of time on Pinterest looking for DIY house decorating ideas.  And finding really cute photo's like this.

I am already thinking about Christmas.  It isn't far away  . . .
I am praying that we are in a new apartment or house by Thanksgiving.
This pic reminds me of my day.  Today I started a new job.  I am working at a Christian Pre-school assisting with the 3 year olds.
When the lead teacher started to serve snacks I asked her about praying.  I was a little surprised and a little sad that she doesn't say a prayer with the children.

I pray that God will use me in my new place of employment.
I pray for the sweet boys and girls and their families and my new co-workers.

I am thankful God gave me this job.

Do you have a list of things your thankful for?  Or maybe something that you need God to take off your shoulders?

I am thankful God is 'into' the small things.  All those things that hurt us.  All those frustrations and ?'s.  All the times we doubt.

He listens.

That's really cool.  Did you realize that we are that Blessed?

Happy Blue Monday ---Randomness

Hello welcome to another wonderful Blue Monday. Today I just have some random fav's from my pinterest board . . .
First my blog theme photo.  Did you notice my new header?
It still needs work.  I used pic monkey to make my collage.
It's too big.  I hope it doesn't make you not want to stop by.
Anyone know how to make it smaller?

Next a cool blue water hose.  On an even cooler hanger.
Love horse shoes.  I want one of these.  And a 'real' place to put it.  Notice the horse way in the background?
Now this is cool.   can't figure out if it is part of the twinkle lights or not but I love blue glass.  And here's some really cool blue glass . . .
Now remember these photos are from my Pinterest board.  I did not drink all this wine. LOL. What a way to recycle.
These are beauty's. I want to make some.  Are there really blue pumpkins?
Maybe so.     And another beautiful Blue
My Hero Walks on Water
And ending with my little Blue Slippers!
Have a Bluetiful Day
Don't forget to stop by Sally's

My "Go To Girl" & A Recipe

I love to cook.  I dream of having a 'cooks' kitchen.
Someday soon. I have a few dream photos. Here's one . . Eclectic decor makes a small space more interesting

On Sunday I was prepared to cook Rib eyes with mushrooms,Salad and Potatoes.  So I go to the fridge to take out the rib eyes and what do I find? Sirloin.

So what do you do with Sirloin at the last minute?

Help came in the form of my 'Go To Girl'.

The Pioneer Woman
My friend Ree is the first place I go.  Oh I would love to really,
really be her 'bestie'!  Not only is she an amazing cook but I love her life!  She lives on this amazing ranch and has horses and cowboys and dogs and kids running around all over the place.

I love reading her blog and now watching her t.v. show.  Can you imagine writing a blog and then a cookbook and then ending up on t.v.  Wow.
 <3 I heart her.

Anyway as I was saying I went to Ree for something to do with sirloin.  And this is what I found.

Basically a simple Burgundy Mushroom Sauce served over the grilled sirloin.  I never grill sirloin.  Usually I slice thin and make a Chinese dish.  But we were in the mood for steak and I know some people are successful with grilling.

We rarely grill outside.  I have become pretty good at grilling on the stove.  Takes some practice.  I have learned a good thick rib eye
takes 4 min. on each side for a nicely medium rare steak.  So I figured with this big 'ole hunk of sirloin I needed to do 2 minutes.

And would you believe I was eating it and it was tasting and chewing just lot filet mignon!  Wow.  So I wasn't Chopped!  (my other favorite Food Network Show).

Here's Ree's recipe for Mushroom Sauce

Ingredients

  • 4 whole Steaks (sirloin, Ribeye, Etc.)
  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 1 pound White Mushrooms, Sliced
  • 4 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 3 whole Green Onions, Sliced
  • 1-1/2 cup Red Wine: Burgundy, Merlot, Cab, Etc.
  • Salt And Pepper, to taste
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter
  • Fresh Parsley, Minced, To Taste

Preparation Instructions

In a large skillet, melt butter over high heat. Throw in mushrooms, garlic, and green onions and cook, stirring occasionally until mushrooms are nice and golden. Pour in wine and stir, scraping bottoms of the pan. Allow to cook for several minutes or until liquid is reduced by at least half. At the end, add 1 tablespoon butter and stir into sauce. Add parsley and stir together. Don't be afraid to splash in a little more wine if needed.
Fry a steak in a separate skillet till medium rare.
Spoon mushrooms sauce over the top.

I'm sorta thinking of using the sauce as a base for beef and broccoli. Maybe ad some soy and change the flavor.  Wonder how that'll work?

Do you have a great sirloin recipe?  I got a couple more big 'ole hunks in the freezer just waitin'.  My Cowboy is great at stopping at the store at the right time for bargains!

Please leave a comment with a link to your sirloin recipe.  I'll be glad to try it and post about here.  Who knows maybe you can get your own cooking show!

Have a great day!

Happy Labor Day Blue Monday

Welcome to a Hot Texas Blue Monday
It's so hot here right now I thought I would find some cool Blue water for us to  relax in ...

Maybe a little trip to Loch Lomand.
Or a beach trip.
Or maybe just hang around here in the good
'ole US of A and do a little fishing.

Maybe followed by a nice picnic . . .

Sounds like a good Blue Monday to me.

Have a great day!

Share A Smile

Do you know someone who needs a little encouragement? Do you have days when just a smile can change all the chaos to peacefulness? Thanks to Pinterest it is easy to share a smile. Here are a few ideas . . .

A fun little illustrated quote can brighten someones day

Here's another. I sent this one to my daughter this week.

Maybe just something fun and cheerful

This one made me smile.

A sweetly illustrated scripture always cheers the heart

And for me and my house it's a horse that can cheer even the saddest or tired heart and soul. A little bit of heaven on earth. I thank God everyday for these beautiful creatures!
If I had a pair of polka dot knee socks this one could be me today. I have lots of reasons to smile. I shared this one with my daughter this week. It had a little special message that only she and I understand. She giggled at work and her co-workers thought she was a little crazy! Do you know someone who needs a smile. Maybe you can share one with them today and cause a giggle!

Wednesday Filled With Words--Polka Dot Knee Socks--Prayer Request

I wish I had polka dot knee socks . . . it's been one of those weeks; months; years.  At least for me.  And, well for my daughter too
but right now she can happily say this little polka dot knee sock girl could be her.  I am happy and proud of her.  Many positive things are happening for her.  It is way past time.

Me....I am praying and waiting and trying to be patient.  While I wait I do this . . .

Started this one to put in the shop or sell at the Seniors Fair this fall. But, it looked great on the bed. It is bigger now. I need to take another snap before I quilt it. Inspiration came from a snap on Pinterest. I didn't save it and haven't been able to find it since!

This one will go in the shop. It will also be bigger. I am almost done with it. I am trying to be better about taking shots of the quilts that I am working on. I have a bunch of tops ready to start quilting.

Yep,a garden and a library and a sewing room. What else do you need. Well actually alot more but these things make me happy. I miss a garden. I am struggling right now with being satisfied with my patio garden and my dining room sewing area. We've been looking at apartments and houses because our lease will be up soon. We really want to move closer to our daughter. We want something a little nicer with an extra bedroom for them to visit. We are trying to be patient but it is so hard. To make this happen I have to find a job. It is so hard. I have been on so many interviews. It is getting harder and harder to be upbeat. I need to be patient but it is just so tough. It is so weird because all last year I prayed that I would have to get a job. And now when I know I need one and I am resigned to working I can't find one. I wonder if God's answered that prayer from earlier because I need to be home to focus on just being a wife. But the other part of me wants to be near and with our daughter and grandson. And so, I pray. And I wait. And I ask God to give me direction.
And I try to encourage. And I look for things that make me smile. I hope that when you come here you see something that makes you Smile. And if you wouldn't mind would you say a prayer for me today.
