I just finished quilting my first spiral. The only problem I had, as the owner of the worlds worst sewing machine, is my machine just wouldn't quilt it or anything else for that matter, even with a walking foot. So I hand quilted it, I was determined to do a spiral and I absolutely love it. I think it's my favorite quilting pattern. Now, as the proud owner of a new sewing machine I can't wait to do one by machine, lol. Don't be afraid, it's just one line of quilting, granted a long line of quilting. Once I got going I used masking tape to enlarge the spacing since I was doing it by hand, no quilting guide. Go for it, I'm sure you'll love it.

I thought I left a comment earlier, but I must have done something wrong. I just finished my first spiral quilt. Unfortunately I am the owner of the worlds worst sewing machine. Even with a walking foot I'm not able to quilt with it, so I hand quilted the spiral. I absolutely love it, spirals have to be my favorite pattern.
And it's really just one line of quilting, granted it's a long line, lol, but you don't have to worry about spacing from the seam lines or points coming together, just keep on quilting. Just go for it, I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

Our mom just has a basic sewing machine that doesn't do all of that fancy quilting work. She sure wishes she did have one that does! Love your scaredy cat quilt!
