Book Review-A Woman Overwhelmed by Hayley DiMarco

A Woman Overwhelmed
About the book (provided by Lifuse0
A Woman Overwhelmed: Finding God in the Messes of Life (Abingdon Press, August 2017)
“A Woman Overwhelmed” is a phrase with which many women can relate.
But what would happen if we could see the insanity in our pace and embrace our overwhelming God?
There is a reason they say that a woman’s work is never done— because it isn’t! As women, we often are overwhelmed by the demands and circumstances of life, resulting in stress, fear, worry, impatience, fatigue, frustration, and even depression. The truth is that we were created to be overwhelmed . . . not by life but by God! When we learn to be overwhelmed by God, the fruit in our lives goes from rotten to fragrant—filling our days with peace, hope, love, and joy.
In A Woman Overwhelmed, best-selling author Hayley DiMarco shares biblical insights and personal stories to offer a glimpse at the comedy of an overwhelmed life while encouraging us to discover the depths and heights of God’s love and power.
Be empowered to find freedom in becoming overwhelmed with who God is—by learning to focus on what we know about God so that we can hold onto faith even when it seems that all is lost. For it is when an overwhelmed woman gives up the mission of me and exchanges it for the mission of God that being overwhelmed becomes a good thing.
Choose to bask in the abundance of the Father instead of the abundance of life as his unfathomable depths can surely replace our fathomable messes.
And I thought
I wouldn't be truthful if I said I am not a Woman Overwhelmed

I wouldn't be telling the truth if I said that I didn't find help in filling my days with peace, hope, love and joy after reading this book.

Who doesn't want to bask in the abundance of the Father.

Hayley DiMarco shares herself and shares what God has taught her.

This is a great book for all women.  Mature or young.  I think there are times that we are all in a place where we need to be reminded of God's sovereignty and his grace.

Let's face it.  It's hard being a wife and a mom.  I for one am grateful to find some help.

I recommend Woman Overwhelmed to all women.

The series

And I thought
They had me at the cover.  I am a sucker for a good romance.
A good cover just sets the stage.

I wish I had started at the beginning.  That isn't meant as a negative.  Just a wish.
You can pick this book up and be engaged.  You'll be enchanted.
You'll be sucked in and just wanting more!  You'll be sad that the
series and the book is ending.

The characters are charming.  They suck you in and won't let you go.

The story left me cheering forTally and Cash.  And sadly saying goodbye to a great series.

When I have a chance I will be pick up the other books in the series.

If your wanting to spend a weekend reading a good romance
pick up this series.

Book Spotlight-Bringing Maggie Home by Kim Vogel Sawyer

I have not read this book yet.  I received it only a few days before my scheduled day to post.
Bringing Maggie Home
About the book (provided by Litfuse)
Bringing Maggie Home(WaterBrook, September 2017)
Decades of loss, an unsolved mystery, and a rift spanning three generations
Hazel DeFord is a woman haunted by her past. While berry picking in a blackberry thicket in 1943, ten-year old Hazel momentarily turns her back on her three-year old sister Maggie and the young girl disappears.
Almost seventy years later, the mystery remains unsolved and the secret guilt Hazel carries has alienated her from her daughter Diane, who can’t understand her mother’s overprotectiveness and near paranoia. While Diane resents her mother’s inexplicable eccentricities, her daughter Meghan—a cold case agent—cherishes her grandmother’s lavish attention and affection.
When a traffic accident forces Meghan to take a six-week leave-of-absence to recover, all three generations of DeFord women find themselves unexpectedly under the same roof. Meghan knows she will have to act as a mediator between the two headstrong and contentious women. But when they uncover Hazel’s painful secret, will Meghan also be able to use her investigative prowess to solve the family mystery and help both women recover all that’s been lost?

Book Spotlight-Litfuse Tour-Many Sparrows by Lori Benton

A tour hosted by Litfuse.  I didn't receive my copy in time for my scheduled slot.  Today I am sharing a spotlight.  I have not read the book.

Many Sparrows
About the book
Many Sparrows (WaterBrook, August 2017)
Either she and her children would emerge from that wilderness together, or none of them would. . . .
In 1774, the Ohio-Kentucky frontier pulses with rising tension and brutal conflicts as Colonists push westward and encroach upon Native American territories. The young Inglesby family is making the perilous journey west when an accident sends Philip back to Redstone Fort for help, forcing him to leave his pregnant wife Clare and their four-year old son Jacob on a remote mountain trail.
When Philip does not return and Jacob disappears from the wagon under the cover of darkness, Clare awakens the next morning to find herself utterly alone, in labor and wondering how she can to recover her son . . . especially when her second child is moments away from being born.
Clare will face the greatest fight of her life, as she struggles to reclaim her son from the Shawnee Indians now holding him captive. But with the battle lines sharply drawn, Jacob’s life might not be the only one at stake. When frontiersman Jeremiah Ring comes to her aid, can the stranger convince Clare that recovering her son will require the very thing her anguished heart is unwilling to do—be still, wait and let God fight this battle for them?
And I thought
I expected a simply Historical Christian Romance.
Many Sparrows by Lori Benton is much more.   This truly is a story of bravery, passion and forgiveness.

And it's a story of waiting on God.  Leaving the reader with an example of how even in trying times God is at work.

Many Sparrows was not a simple fast read.  It was a sink your teeth into the twists and turns and hang on through the challenges, struggles and emotions that Clare faces.

This was my first chance to read a book by Lori Benton. (I know your thinking what wrong have I been under)  I appreciated the opportunity Litfuse has given me and introduced my to Lori.

Many Sparrows is a beautifully written story that women that enjoy historical romances would love!

I look forward to reading more!

Thoughts/Tips on Mopping Part 1

Image result for vintage lady mopping
I don't dress like this when I mop.
In fact I don't even own heels anymore!
Related image
There was a time that I truly despised mopping my floors. For
a short while we lived in a beautiful home.  I loved everything about the house except the floors!  The huge entry, den, huge kitchen, laundry and a powder room were all white tile.
I labored over that floor . . . Image result for vintage lady mopping
It/I wasn't pretty.
I was grumpy.   I was annoyed every time I started the task.
Back in the day this is the way you mopped . . .
Image result for vintage lady mopping   Actually  I used a mop for most of the house only doing it on my poor little knees in the kitchen/laundry room because it was always so dirty.  2 dogs and a cat track in a bunch of dirt.

And so as I grumbled one day I did something different.
Praying for Myself (free printable prayer guide)
I actually prayed that I would enjoy mopping.  I prayed while I mopped.  I thanked God for the beautiful house that he had given us.

I didn't realize it until many, many years later.  Actually I realized it only a few short weeks ago.

 I like to mop
I clean houses now.  It's a good thing I like to mop. It's a better thing that God listens and answers prayers!

Having the right and proper tools is a big plus.   Tomorrow I'll be sharing with you the mopping system(s) that I prefer.

Beloved Hear My Heart by Lawrence Sankar-Book Review

About the book (provided by BookCrash.com)
Beloved Hear My Heart is a collection of thirty thought provoking messages, all carefully written with a very poetic flavor. Its singular objective is to engage the reader in a very sober conversation.
It is my hope that the vivid illustrations and analogies contained therein will challenge each reader to reverently undertake a personal task of self-introspection.
It is indeed a clarion call from the Creator God, to the creature mankind to return to the Biblical principles divinely proclaimed within the Word of God. Topics covered include: A Sense of Righteous Urgency, The Lord’s Amnesty, The Moral Arc of Civility, The Timeless Message of Repentance, and Making a Difference in an Indifferent Society.
And I thought
This was an interesting book for me.  I was not what I expected.

Reading the title I was interested in reading it and hoping that it would bring me closer to God.

I can't really say that it did.

I was looking for a devotional type book.

Most of the book is written in a really poetic style which doesn't appeal to me.

The 31 messages (as the synopsis describes) are written as personal writings with personal notes at the end of each.  In each section of notes the author follows up the installment with scripture to support his thoughts.

Sadly I did find a few grammatical errors which made me wish that it had been edited better.

The content is good and someone that is into deep reading would enjoy it.

For me right now it just wasn't a good fit.

The author shared his heart and his desire and longing to share his faith.
