1. Squash

   The large leaves of the squash act as living mulch, reducing weeds and preserving moisture. 

You can also plant squash with lettuce, melons, peas, and radish. However, you should avoid planting near brassicas or potatoes. Borage can improve the growth and flavor of squash, while marigolds and nasturtium repel squash pest insects.
