Foodie Friday - Cowboys Surgery Week

I/we are having a super busy and tiring week.  The Cowboy had surgery on a Monday.

I cooked and photographed a few meals . . .

And I fried (burned) me some Yellow Squash the night the Cowboy was in the hospital.   It was so good.

I finally  made a perfect  Egg.
And the Cowboy ate breakfast!

A few Nachos  on the Cowboys  plate to go with this . . .
We love these Chili Rellenos. Super simple oven baked yummy!  Always get perfect Avacados at our little  grocery in town.

A Chicken Thigh, Kicked Up Blue Box Mac/Cheese and fresh Spinach

Love burger patties we get from the butcher shop . . .
I just put a little S&P and Paprika
Fry some Bacon and then put in the Patties and a  couple drops of Worcestershire . . .
Out of frozen Fries but did a few fresh Potatoes.  They were o.k.
I always love Okra.

Book Spotlight-Frosted Yuletide Murder! By Kim Davis- Great Escapes Tour

About the book

Set against the holiday cheer of twinkling lights, costumed carolers, and a festive line of extravagantly decorated boats participating in the annual Christmas boat parade in Newport Beach, California, cupcake caterer Emory Martinez finds that the grinch has crashed the party. Together with her sister Carrie, Emory is catering a delectable feast of holiday cupcakes and cookies aboard a luxury yacht for the new Mrs. Blair Villman and her guests.

Sparks fly when Carrie comes face-to-face with the hostess, who just happens to be Carrie’s high school frenemy, and old grievances are dredged up. Adding fuel to the fire, Blair’s stepson brings his mother, the former Mrs. Villman, to the party. Instead of celebrating holiday cheer, someone seems intent on channeling the Burgermeister Meisterburger and shutting down Blair’s party permanently. When Emory finds a body aboard the yacht, she needs to discover who iced the victim before the Scrooge ruins not only her livelihood but her freedom as well.

Includes delicious holiday recipes.

Worldless Wednesday Merry Christmas-Cruisin' Galveston

A Mini Home Tour-Ho Ho Ho

No Tea today!  Too much Merry and Jolly.

Starting at the front door . . .

Our little beach bungalow is filled with Santa's, Reindeer and Moose's.   Lots of sun here.  Ready with the  shades!
I love our huge stocking.  The Cowboy found it a few years ago at a thrift shop. I miss those days he was always finding treasures.
Our door is metal so the stocking is held up by magnets.

Step inside and you'll be greeted by a few friends . . .

Lola must be having quite the conversation.

Let's step into the morning room (space)

By my chair is Mother's sewing machine cabinet.   I enjoy favorite pictures as I sit in my chair sippin Tea or Dr. Pepper in the mornin . . .
He grew up so fast!   Through the years the dogs always had photos with Santa.
Sitting just between the photos is a foam Gingerbread House my grandson made . . .
I took it apart to pack since we were moving.  Boy it was hard to put back together!

Since we are in a tiny space I have to be creative.  I love my pedestal servers and had to bring them.
This one is perfect to hold Santa in his sleigh.
It is pretty at night when it is lit and Santa is flying.

I searched and found a photo from a previous Christmas to share . . .

This is on of my favorites of all time!

I hope you'll come by tomorrow as ai share a Cruisin' Galveston post!

My Day Today-My Weeks Plans

Here's a giggle.  A chicken in a hat.

We could have used a crochet hat over the weekend.  Had a couple of cold days.

But it is beautiful this morning and I am on the porch listening to a few rain drops.  It's just mostly dripping from the roof now.

I already moved my sick Basil.  And sad Rosemary out to my little  patio table for a bit of rain and be some sun.

I will be moving a few more plants around when I finish my post.

I hope to move my table to the porch to enjoy it more.

Here are my prompts for the week. My prompts will change each week with what's on my mind and my mood.

In the kitchen . . .

This week I am not including a menu.  I have no real plans.  The Cowboy is recovering from knee replacement surgery.

I do plan to offer a Trout Filet, Green Beans and Scalloped Potatoes tonight.

I will fry some Yellow Squash for my plate and add a Salad.

I don't really care for Fish.  It's not that I don't like it.  I would just rather have veggies.

Around the house . . .

Christmas everywhere I turn!

Christmas makes me smile.

Come by tomorrow for a peek

I am hoping to . . .

Spend some time crafting this week

Spend mornings on the porch enjoying my flowers and a gardening book

Move my little patio table to the porch to enjoy the mornings with a cup of area and my gardening books.

Get my Christmas Dinner Table set

Is it too early?

Buy a Ham Wednesday when I do the monthly 'Big' shop

The To Do List

A short list of two most important things . . .

On Tuesday call our grand daughter for her Birthday

#1 Buy presents for grands and get mailed

Waiting for counting down the days . . .

5 weeks when the Cowboy is cleared to drive again!

It's selfish of me I know but ...

...last week when we went to the hospital I found a Hobby Lobby!  It is on the highway going to Houston. Super busy traffic.  Driving the highway makes me super anxious now a days.

We are planning a day to go shopping and hopefully eat Chinese for lunch in League City.

Bummer no decent Chinese on Island.  Only 2 places and bad reviews!

Something fun to share . . .

The Fabulous Party . . .

Did you know I host a blog party every week?

I hope you will add the party to your list!

I hope you feel a little Sparkle when you visit me.

For 2022 I have chosen Simplicity.

I will be on a Journey in the New Year to make things

Author Guest post Beauty And The Deceased by Debra Sennefelder Grease Escapes Tour

The Making of a Resale Boutique Book Cover
by Debra Sennefelder

Have you ever wondered what the process of creating a book cover entailed? I’m happy to share with you today the process I go through so that the covers of the Resale Boutique Mystery books are eye-catching and appropriate to the story.

The process begins with a story idea, which gives me the book's season, the murder victim, and what aspect of the story could be highlighted on the cover. Once the idea is fleshed out, and the outline is written, I send it to my editor. He reads the outline and then sends back notes, and then I start writing the first draft. But, of course, while I’m writing the manuscript, I’m also thinking of the cover.

As I’m writing, I’m collecting ideas for the cover. I keep those ideas in a file. I admit it’s a mess. There are images pasted from websites, links to pictures I found on stock photo sites, and descriptions of scenes I feel could be conveyed on the cover. At some point, while I’m writing the manuscript, my editor will contact me and ask for cover ideas. This is when I go through my cover idea file and decide which ideas I want to send my editor, which he will send to the art department. After the file, I tidied up, and I’ve written a paragraph or two about how I envision the cover, it gets sent off to my editor. Then I wait to see what the art department comes up with. To date, I haven’t been disappointed.

When I was writing MURDER WEARS A LITTLE BLACK DRESS, my editor and I wanted a black dress on the cover. So with that book, we decided that there would be a female silhouette and an orange cat, Howard, on the cover for the series. The only deviation from this was for the cover of the novella, WHAT NOT TO WEAR TO A GRAVEYARD. For that cover, we used an image of a Shih Tzu because the story focused on the dognapping of a pup named Billy.

I love brainstorming ideas for the covers of this series because I love fashion so much, and I can let my imagination run wild. But what truly amazes me is the talented team at Kensington. They take my document filled with links, images, and notes and turn it into a cover that I love every time.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this peek behind the scenes at the book cover process. And I hope you’ll enjoy reading BEAUTY AND THE DECEASED.

About the book
Kelly Quinn’s Long Island consignment shop offers high style at secondhand prices—but when a body is found on the beach, she needs to start hunting for a wolf in sheep’s clothing . . .

Kelly is thrilled when she gets a visit from a cousin she hasn’t seen in years. Becky’s cosmetics company is taking off, and she just might have laid the foundation for a big-money buyout. It’s a time to celebrate—but Kelly is heartbroken when a killer puts an end to their happy reunion during a mysterious midnight meeting near the shore.

Despite multiple warnings to steer clear, Kelly starts shadowing a variety of suspects both inside and outside the beauty business—when she isn’t busy filling the racks of the Lucky Cove Resale Boutique with lots of new inventory from a local shopaholic. Gossip and accusations are flying, but there’s no glossing over this ugly crime, and she’s going to make sure the culprit faces justice…
