Happy Homemaker in Texas

Good Morning.  One of my favorite posts to write is this one my Happy Homemaker post.

I enjoy joining Sandra.  Her great prompts take a bit of the pressure off when you can't think of anything in to write about!

Let's get on with it . . .

The weather   this week no rain in the forecast.  80's most of the week  creeping up to 90 by weeks of end.

On the breakfast plate  we have some leftover hash.  That will be good with a fried egg

What I am wearing  always shorts and a tank top during the day.  I found new short boots on clearance at Target.  When it rains hard it collects in the  street gutters.  I wore my new black boots with black  pants and a striped  shirt to dinner the other night.  It was still raining a little when we left.  My boots were perfect for the puddles.

I like my boots!

Looking around the house  I am overwhelmed with our 2nd living area and my crafting space/library.  We have not been able to find affordable decent shelves for books and my supplies.  I can't even get to my table.  I had to dig computer bags out of the closet that the Cowboy had stored papers in.  Everything from the closet is on  my table and in my space.  I am just too overwhelmed to deal with it!

On the To Do List

Putting everything back in the closet again! 3rd time!

Enjoy my craft space

Go to post office.  Mail cards and packages and buy stamps

Go to used bookstore

Go to a garden park

Goals we have decided to look into buying a golf cart.  The Cowboy agreed to sell a few things and save the money for the golf cart.

We don't have much left to sell except his library and some guns.

We have one framed print to try and sell.

On the menu

Monday Chicken and Dumplings

Tuesday Steak, Potatoes and Fried Okra

Wednesday   Teriyaki Salmon, Fried Rice

Thursday  leftover Spaghetti

Friday  Beef Stew from leftover Roast from freezer

On the reading pile

New on the blog (s)

I am starting a new feature here called From the Mailbox.  I will share the goodies I receive like this!

This is the gorgeous Red Junk Journal page I received in a SWAP.

Over at My Reading Journeys I am doing last minute prep for the 2nd Annual Dog Days of Summer Book event

Each day I am posting teasers like this on fb . . .

It will be a super fun event.  I hope you come by.

On the t.v. We are really liking the shows on the Magnolia Network.  Although the Cowboy binge watches and I don't like it. I like to watch an episode and then watch something else.  Makes the series last longer.

Do you binge watch?

List of shows . . .

Clint Harp Travel Restoration

The Mega Yacht Reality Shows

Dr Jeff Colorado Vet

Magnolia Table

Waiting on more episodes . . .

The lost Kitchen

Restoring Galveston

Johnny Swim

Crafting plans if I ever get my space workable again.

I saw similar ones on fb but my phone won't save them form fb.

They are made by cutting up flowers from magazines and catalogues.   And I have a few I can cut up.  I will be trying this week.

I also have to make a pretty but simple Colorful Junk Journal for a SWAP.  These are the colors I will use.

I will include one envelope and paper.  Then I will add dyed papers and bits and other Ephemera.

The example was bound with Washi Tape.  I will put tape on the edges of some pages.

Some of my favorite tapes will be used.

I love the Pink dots and the check.

I also love the Blue dots and the eye glasses.  I probably won't use the glasses.  They don't go with the theme.

I am kind of thinking super simple.

A Minimalist approach.  We will see what happens!

From the camera

We visited the best Antique shop we have ever been to!  It was super fun and full of goodies.

We did not know it was once a hotel.

We saw the shop on the t.v. show Restoring Galveston and we were anxious to go.

The owners of and staff are super friendly!

The outside looks nothing like the inside!

Scripture/Devo.

Thanks for coming by and spending part of you day with me.

Don't forget to go by Sandra's for the party.

The party is over

Here

Have a Sparkle filled week!

reframe your mindset about prayer

To start seeing a record of God’s answers to your prayers, use this book with the companion journal, The Prayer That Works Journal: 31 Days of Writing Your Prayers.

Buy now and start changing your prayer life today.

And I thought

I enjoyed reading through this short study.

I have not gotten into the actual study yet.

I received a complimentary copy from the author for the purpose of this review.  I am sharing my honest thoughts.

I enjoyed what I read.

I liked that the study is short.  The complete study is presented in 55 pages.

The study is spot on.  Very well presented and thoughts, excerpts are Biblically accurate.

The author does not assume that the reader has a personal relationship with Jesus and shares how to receive Christ.

And then how to grow closer through the a prayer life.

That is not to say the study is only written for a new believer.

Even mature believers who want to have better prayer life or grow closer to God will benefit from the study.

I liked that the author provided by a separate Journal to go along with the study.

My review will appear in Amazon and Good Reads.

I received a complimentary copy

Foodie Friday

Hello are you having a great day?

For me the day/week has flown by!

I cooked some decent meals.  And enjoyed some great meals out!

And here's what we enjoyed this week!

Simple.  Pan Seared Cod.  Walmart brand Shells and Cheese.  It was pretty good.  And a salad.

On Wednesday night I had  the best Burger I think I have ever had.

The restaurant was recommended by a friend.  I am glad we finally made it!

Look at the size of that Burger!
This was the kids meal.  It came with Waffle Fries, a drink and a cookie.  You order at a counter. The clerk gave me a regular size glass.
I thought that was nice.

We got a side of Onion Rings!
Oh so good!  Never making them at home again!  The Cowboy got a Shrimp Po boy.  It was filled with Shrimp!

Oh I want more of those Onion Rings!

It was gorgeous evening.  We had a great view.

A more professional shot from the website.  I have no clue how they did this.  The place is always packed.  Which is why it has taken us so long to go there.

The Spot is a really cool place with great food!

The Rustic Dinner Plate held some favorites.
Kielbasa, Fried Potatoes and Fried Cabbage
It was really hot a few days.  A cold Salad with Shrimp and Gold Fish Croutons
We had a few Brunches. I am finally getting better at Fried Eggs!
MaMa was tired all week!  Simple Frito Pie and Salad . . .

Eggs and Hash for breakfast.  We found English Muffins at Dollar Tree just as good as the pricey ones at the store!

I hope you're had a great week and enjoyed some yummy dishes!

Till next time!

Character Guest Post- Meet Parker Campbell the Calico Cat Mystery Series by Patricia Fry

Olivia proves she’s not just a pretty face.

A Day in the Life of a Cozy Mystery Star

Guest Post

By Parker Campbell from the Calico Cat Mysteries

I’m Parker Campbell, a figment of author, Patricia Fry’s imagination. She has given me a very interesting profession as an investigative writer. My partner is a cat—yes a cat! She’s Olivia, a gorgeous and spunky calico. In fact, while I have a lot to say and do in the stories, Olivia is actually the star—thus the name of the series, “The Calico Cat Mysteries.”

Patricia has been generous, indeed, by giving me a beautiful and fun cat to work with and a fascinating career, plus a handsome boyfriend who has his own busy life as a rodeo cowboy, and who understands my need to rigorously pursue my career. We meet up once in a while, but otherwise, it’s just me and Olivia. My psychic brother, Wade, whom I adore, comes into the stories occasionally, and I communicate with my mom. Along the way Olivia and I meet some interesting people who take us down some fun, crazy, precarious, and always noteworthy pathways.

We go where the mysteries and stories are. You first read about us in Book 51 of the Klepto Cat Mystery series, also written by Patricia Fry. Olivia was such a hit in that story and on Facebook, that Patricia couldn’t help herself. She could envision Olivia having her own series and she invented me to come along on the ride.

So who am I? I’m a young woman who loves her cat and craves adventure. The fact that her cat, Olivia, also has the adventuring gene is actually helps to create the stories. When jewelry and other valuable items were disappearing from a bed and breakfast inn, I took Olivia there to see what she could find. Her instincts kicked in and she helped to paw the culprit—who happened to be a cat burglar. Yeah, if you like cats, you’re going to love all the kitty-cat action in the Calico Cat Mysteries.

I’m actually a pretty organized, regimented, relaxed woman, however, Olivia’s shenanigans do rattle me sometimes. I always forgive the anguish she caused me once the crises is over, because usually she has identified the perpetrator of a crime, found a missing person or a clue as to where that person is. She’s queen of getting herself into trouble, which drives me crazy, but she almost always comes out smelling like a rose, except for the time she got stuck in a trash barrel and someone tossed in some coffee grounds and leftover stew. All was forgiven (after her bath, of course) when she helped a neighbor calm a crying baby and fell asleep in the bassinet along with the child. Oh yes, no one knows the anguish I experience because of Olivia or the joy she brings me until they read the Calico Cat Mysteries.

Patricia Fry is the author of 97 books, including the 52-book strong Klepto Cat Mystery series and two books in the Calico Cat Mysteries.
