Wordfilled Wednesday Filled With Words

Prayer is on my heart . . .

Each week my Cowboy and I spend a couple of days doing programming at a boys prison unit.

On Sundays we  worship with them.  Each week they have an opportunity to write down their prayer requests.
We share the prayer requests  with a local church.

Each week we tell the boys we will pray.  We encourage them to pray also.

They are just learning that they can take thier pain, their suffering, their needs to God.

They need us to show them Jesus.  They need us to pray for them.

I struggle with Prayer

It's not that I don't want to.  It's not that I don't know how.  Oh sometimes I don't have the words.

It's just that I forget.  It's always so easy to remember those things I need.  But when it comes to praying for others.  It is hard.  It's not that I don't want to.  I just don't think about it.

  • I think I need reminders.  Maybe a to do list.  A list of people and things I need to pray about.

Maybe a Prayer Journal just for listing prayer requests.  Just to use to pray for other people.

I was wondering am I alone in this?  Do you struggle with praying for others?

Just in case you need something to today to give you a big Smile here's a little pic I found that made me Smile.

A Journey Filled With Smiles

Welcome to my day.  I am so Happy you chose to come by and visit my little blog.
Yesterday I started a new theme here at My Journey.   And today I want to share a little more of the idea behind it and give you an encouraging word or too.

My theme for the rest of December is Smile.  I think it is a perfect theme for this month because there are so many things around us to make us smile in December.  Now maybe this morning your not smiling yet because you haven't finished your coffee or Dr. Pepper.  (we/I drink D.P.)

And so if your not here's a little something maybe to put you in the Smiley mood.  It did me when I found it!

I first posted this pic on my Birthday and I threatened that my face would look like this if I didn't get cake.  And well I haven't gotten that cake yet but I am going too!  LOL.  I did have a slice at Chili's with my daughter and grandson on Friday night....opp's sorry I am off on a rabbitt trail.  Now doesn't this pic just make you smile?  Can you imagine the mom and photographer during this shoot?  I googled Jamilia Jean and she has the shoot on her blog.  I wish I could have her do pics of my grandkids!

Back to Smiles....sorry

If your a regular follower of My Journey  you've probably noticed a few subtle changes on my sidbar.  I am in the process of a complete makeover of the blog.  Backgrounds, photo's and buttons, links and Content.

Yes I said Content.  My Journey will still be a place for you to get encouragement and some Godly Wisdom.  And, I hope a place where I can get wisdom from you!

One of the changes I am making is where I am linking.  I'll be joining some new linky parties and taking a break from a few that I have been joining.  One of those I am leaving behind is Thankful Thursday.   The main reason because it's my desire to remember that I should be thankful everyday.

And, I want to help remind you of the things that God has Blessed you with.

The simple things. The things that make you smile.

Maybe today your rushing around counting down the days till Christmas with a list that is longer than your arm.

Maybe your list of things to do has to be completed before the kids are home for the Christmas break and your frazzled.

I remember the days of being frazzeled.  Let me tell you sister those days may seem daunting but,
sweet sister they don't last.  In a heartbeat it seems you'll wake up and realize those sweet little toddlers or preschoolers or children or teenagers will be grown and gone.

And, they may be gone in more ways than one.  In the literal sense and in the emotional sense.  It is hard to think past the present into the future.    But the future isn't too far away.

I love visiting blog sisters that share their family gathering ideas.   Your ideas make me smile.
It makes me realize there are families out there intentionally trying to make happy memory making moments.  Please keep sharing you Bless.

In the days to come I want to share with you tips, tutorials, ideas and stories that will make you smile.  Some may make you sad.  But will ultimately give you encouragement to make memories and to pursue making your home a place filled with love.  A place of sanctuary.

And so today while your running around checking off your to do list.  Look around and find something that makes you smile.  And Smile big.  Remember today that
Jesus is the Reason for the Season.  Merry Christmas

I would love to know why your smiling.  Leave me a comment!

May Your Journey Be Filled with Smiles . . .

Welcome to Brrr Blue Monday.  Today I am wearing those Blue Slippers!  We got a Blue Northern and there was even a little snow on the rooftops this morning when I took Daisy out.

Each day I am going to end my post with a short list of things that are making me smile today.

Today I am smiling because . . .

Word Filled Wednesday Filled With Words

Welcome.  Thank you for joining my day!  Today I am sharing a previously posted WFW.   I suspect your like me and thinking and counting the days till Christmas.  And making lists of all the things you need to do.
And so I wanted to remind you to Be Still and to take a break.
You might not be able to get to the beach but maybe you can find a quiet place and put your feet up.

And I have for you . . .
a gift.  Because I thought this was a beautifully wrapped package.    My gift to you today is a few tips I found.
So grab a cup or a glass of your favorite beverage and 'be inspired' . . .
First I found this at Proverbs 31 Woman's (the ministry) Facebook page.  They suggest taking the last of a pot of coffee (if you have any left over) and saving in ice trays for iced coffee drinks.
Well I am not a coffee hot or iced drinker but I thought this was a great idea and one you might use.
I actually thought of freezing tea.  Or oh my word!  Dr. Pepper.  Hmmm....
Since I know your already laughing at me about the Dr. Pepper just thought I would add this one.
It cracked me up!  Can you imagine having a wild turkey come to your door and harras your cat!
I loved this one and I want to buAy bulbs just to do this!  Take your old bulbs and spray paint and then coved in glitter.  Fill a bowl or glass vase.  Oh what sparkly fun!
And one more Christmasy tip . . .
When Cowboy and I bought our first house our kids were 8 & 10.  They called it 'the big house' and it was kind of but not really just bigger than the prior rentals.  Our kids for the first time had they own bathrooms.
I wanted to make them festive for Christmas and I thought of cute towels with Santa  and reindeers.  You know the ones with the reindeer and the lights tangled in their antlers.  Well they are really cute but you once them for what a month and then put them away.  So being the 'somewhat' frugal gal I was back then I bought solid red.  I did put them up in January.
But they came back out for Valentines and 4th of July.

And, the hand towels  25 years later in my kitchen.  (that's another post! Proverbs 27:15)

May Your Journey Be Filled With Blessings . . .

 Before I go a note from Daisy . . .

Daisy will be back Saturday with two winners for  her Bloggie Doggie Award.  (Because I didn't post last week.)

Caution Purse Thieves

Thank you for stopping in today.  Today I want to share with you something that has been on my mind for a few days.

The other day my Cowboy and I went grocery shopping. I am very picky about where I shop. We had gone to a neighborhood that happens to have a lot of Senior Adults living near the Kroger where we were shopping.
We were walking along the aisle and I couldn't help but notice this elderly woman looking over lunch meat.  I glanced at her cart and noticed her purse sitting unattended.  My Cowboy was oblivious to what I saw and was pushing our cart and going on toward the seafood.   I started to pass the sweet lady and then I decided that I needed to stop and caution her about her purse.

My daughter had shared something with me a few years before about shopping.  She told me that if you take the child seat belt and loop it through your purse that no one can grab your purse from your cart.

And so, I stopped the elderly woman and shared with her.  She was so sweet and so thankful.  And she immediately put the seatbelt through the strap of her purse.

I smiled to myself as I walked away.

And then I came to the next aisle.  We were walking along looking at canned vegetables.  There happened to be a cart sitting right in front of the beans I was trying to pick up.  The cart was totally unattended and there was an opened  purse sitting inside the seat.  I looked around and the owner was walking ever so slowly back to her cart completely oblivious to what was going on.

I just could not help but think if I was a crook I could have just grabbed her wallet and she wouldn't have noticed till she got to the check out.

I began to feel really weird about talking to her and so I went on my way and prayed a silent prayer that she wouldn't loose her purse.  As we continued shopping I noticed two more ladies leaving their purses unattended.

Cowboy and I finished our shopping and went on home.  But the incident has stayed on my mind.

Ladies be careful about your purse.  I have had my purse stolen.  By the grace of God there wasn't any money in it at the time.  But it was a huge hassel replacing my drivers license and Social Security card.  Yes, I was stupid I had my S.S. card in my purse; for probably close to 25 years I carried it, with no incident.

I have tried and tried to convince my 88 year old mother not to walk around with her purse open.
I am sure she does the same thing in the grocey store, wondering off and leaving her purse unattended.

Please pass this 'caution' on to your mom's and your friends.  You don't have to be an older adult to be distracted and leave your purse.

Praying God's Blessings on you today.   And may your shopping adventures be Blessed

On a Blessed Journey . . .

Blue Monday Mantles

Welcome to My Blue Monday. Today I am lovin' my fireplace mantle and so I thought I would share a few Blue's . . .
Interesting.  I love the mirrors.  Different sizes and different shapes.  I would love a collection of mirrors for my mantle.
Very pretty and simple.

What I thought was interesting.  I googled Blue fireplace mantles.  And, all the pics I found were fairly modern in appearance.   Interesting.

Here's one more. . .
Very pretty . . .

And one more Blue . . . along with my thoughts . . .
