A Favorite Tea Shop in Carmel -by-the-Sea By Author Alison Henderson

 Let's give  a big Welcome to a new friend  of mine . . .

I met Alison when she mentioned on Facebook this little  Tea Shop she loves to visit.

I sent her a message  and asked her to join the party! I was so happy when she said yes.  I knew you would  want to meet  her.

A Favorite be Tea Shop

by Alison Henderson

I must confess, I’m a confirmed tea drinker. I tried coffee my first semester of college, when I had an 8:00 a.m. Anthropology class, and it nearly sent me screaming from the lecture hall. Give me a nice cup of tea, and I’m alert but still able to sit calmly for an hour. To show my devotion, I’ve even decorated my kitchen with a collection of miniature enameled teapots 🫖

Eight years ago, I took early retirement, and my husband and I packed up our lives and drove half-way across the country from Minnesota to Carmel, California, to begin the next chapter. If you’ve never visited Carmel-by-the-Sea, it is hands-down the cutest seaside village anywhere, and the streets are dotted with fairytale-style buildings, including my favorite tea shop, the Tuck Box.

Before moving here, we came several times a year as tourists, and our first stop was always the Tuck Box, even before checking into the hotel. Driving down from the San Jose airport, we would arrive in time for lunch, either inside or on the stone patio. Since then, I’ve enjoyed many a long chat about writing with fellow authors over a pot of tea and a plate of scones.

I even set a scene in my first romantic suspense, UNWRITTEN RULES, in the Tuck Box. My female bodyguard heroine and her CIA agent-turned-thriller-writer client arrive in Carmel on a coast-to-coast book tour and stop there for lunch before heading down the coast to Big Sur. It’s the best place I know to enjoy the perfect cup of tea.

  1. Last time I was in Carmel (quite a few years ago), I remember walking by the Tuck Box. I guess I should have gone inside!

  4. I miss those face-to-face conversations over caffeine (coffee for me, tea for you) at the Tuck Box and elsewhere.
