Foodie Friday

Hello

This the day I share

My meals are made with love and served on treasured Dinner Plates.

My photos are Rustic and unedited!

We went to a new fish market and found . . .

So good.  I served with Flounder

Oven baked.  So easy to prepare!

On Wednesday night we tried a new Pizza place.  They have a Special on Wednesday . . .

It was really good.  I was so hungry I forgot to get a picture!  We ate all but 1 piece.

But the Cowboy ate it for a midnight snack.

The restaurant isn't a cheap place.
We will definitely get Pizza again.  Maybe check out the rest of the menu sometime.

On Tuesday night we decided to go to a concert in a park downtown.

It was really fun.  Not crowded at all.  But lots of locals and lots of dogs

We went to The Strand for a late snack . . .

Some great fries.  And they were hot. Unlike some we got at another popular restaurant.

We each had a cup of soup. . .

Or Gumbo in my case.  The waiter asked if I wanted extra Rice.  I hadn't even taken a bite.  I kind of reluctantly declined.  I usually put lots of Rice in my Gumbo.  But this was so good.  Just the right amount of Rice.

I enjoyed my Shrimp and Sausage Gumbo . . .
I didn't get a picture of the Cowboys Lobster Bisque.
He said it was great!  We will be going back to  . .

Hmm on the decor.  Very Beachy LOL.  Well it is called Shark Shack!

We had lunch out on Tuesday . . .

Look at what we had for lunch!
I can not tell you the last time I had a real Milkshake.  Oh and it was so good!

We split a Burger. That was super yummy.  And a good size.

My only negative; it was not served with Fries.  I mean who serves a Milkshake like that and no Fries.

Chips hmm. Dumb.

Maybe next time we will stop at McDonald's on the way for the Fries!

Well even though they didn't have Fries the atmosphere was great!
And those Milkshakes.  I want to go back now!

The Cowboy snapped pics fast between diners.

We happened in  a perfect parking space when we arrived . . .

I did cook at home on Monday . . .

But I forgot to change the calendar!
I made Hash Brown Casserole.  It was just o.k.  Nothing to write home about.
We had leftover Enchiladas and a Salad.
The Cowboy wanted Biscuits and Bacon.  The Biscuits were just o.k.
I think we like Pillsbury frozen much better.

Pan Seared Cod, Green Beans (they were so good!) And a Caesar Salad.

Those Biscuits again
Sausage Gravy

And Tamales from the neighbor.  Always hot and yummy when he delivers!

When we bought groceries the other day Fried Chicken be was on sale.  Not a keeper!  My Fries and Okra were much better.

On Friday night Pork Chops, Hash Brown Casserole and Okra.

We had a great week and some good food.

I love to cook and I love eating at new and favorite places!

Do you like eating out?
Enjoy your weekend!

Happy Homemaker in Texas

 Hello and Welcome

The summer is flying by.   Soon we will be enjoying Fall.  Followed by the bestest time of the year!

I enjoyed sharing a few Christmas in July posts.  I have so many post ideas I want to share with you.

Hmm. Maybe August will be "The Month'.

Well it's is Saturday after all and time for . . .

The weather . . .

Here in Galveston it is  80 or just a few degrees hotter in the morning.

The mornings are gorgeous and pleasant as long as you get out there noon. Then it starts getting hot.

But the evenings are cool enough to sit on the porch.

What I am wearing . . .

I think I will change to What I Want To Wear... I'd like to get some skirts and sundresses.

Around the house it's boring shorts with pockets and tanks.  For keeping house and puttering around my flower pots and walking dogs (pockets for ...you know what I mean)

On the breakfast plate . . .

I have been craving DoNuts but that would require going out.

So I guess I will cook some Bacon in the oven and Fry some Eggs.  Maybe some Hash Browns.

On the To Do List . . .

Go to post office.  Mail August bday cards and letters

Go to Home Depot to look for plants

Normal cleaning. Vacuum daily.  I have taught Domino to let me vacuum her!  Yea.

Take dogs to dog park

Go to a garden park

Go to library

My Ta Da moment . . . I got the last of the pictures unboxed and some hung ( we will have to rotate)

I got Christmas Dishes put in kitchen in back of lower cabinets.

Doesn't sound like much but this was a major accomplishment!

On the reading pile . . .

On the blogs  this month . . .

I am excited to announce the 2nd Annual Dog Days of Summer

Five different authors.  Lots of puppy love!

You won't want to miss it!

On the menu . . .

Sunday

I always try to do simple.  Throw back to those days with kids and church activities!

Simply Frito Pie

Monday

Bratwurst/Kielbasa, Cabbage and Potatoes

Tuesday

Shrimp Tacos and Guacamole

Wednesday

Oven Baked Flounder, Green Beans, Baked Potatoes

Thursday

Split Pea Soup, BLT's

Friday

Surprise me I am out of idea

I might have Cubed Steak in freezer for Chick Fry. Yum.

I am totally open to anything the Cowboy suggests.  Especially if I don't have to cook.  And clean up.

For lunches this week

I want to make a Tuna casserole

The Cowboy will have sandwiches. We went to store that has his Lebanon Bologna

I want to make some soup.  Beef Vegetable or maybe Chicken and Rice.

Chef Salad.  Need to boil some Eggs. Maybe Devil some for dinner one night.  Hmm which night?

Maybe they will be a snack.  I love Deviled Eggs.  Do you?

From the camera

Concert at the park . . .
Started with pledge of allegiance!

Scripture/Devo

Thanks for coming by.
Don't forget to go by Sandra's for the party.

Crafting Sunday

Hello.  Welcome to my crafting table.

Today I am sharing two things I created for SWAPs.

A Red Junk Journal page and a Flowish Junk Journal.

First the Red theme J.J. Page. I almost didn't sign up for this SWAP.  I didn't think I had enough Red . . .

When you sign up this group requires a Sneak Peek.  Here's mine . . .

I had more Red than I thought.
After I gathered these elements.  I was stumped with how to create my page.

I have a picture book of images from Country Living Magazine.
As I flipped through the pages I found my inspiration!

As soon as I saw these Adirondack Chairs I was on a roll.  I made this picture the front or cover.  I folded the bottom under to make a pocket on the inside . . .

I folded the picture off center so the 3rd page showed.

When you open the page you find the fold up pocket.  I made the with a napkin.  Old fashioned decopauge.

I also folded the last page to make a flip out.  I glued lined paper to cover the text on the page.  I made a tuck and put Journaling cards in.  I also added a small red paper clip.

Side view showing how I made the tuck.  I added a flower that I had punched.  And Washi Tape with Red Cheeries.

I also found this page in the book.
Board games for our summer theme.  I folded this page up for another pocket.  I glued the Uno card to form a tuck spot.
In the pocket I put a little envelope filled with punched flowers.  And tucked more cards in the tuck spot.
At the top you can see the envelope and the cards.

The punched Red flowers.

On the back I glue Red lace hanging off the edge and game tickets.  I only glued the bottom to create a pocket.
I included a page from a Vintage Children's workbook.

I attached a couple handmade tickets and swatches of fabric.  I attached a paper clip that I tied a Red ribbon to.

I had a time packaging this one for mailing.  I loved the back of the games page.   I used Washi to make it look like the drawing was held up by the tape.

I sure hope my partner likes this
Red theme J. J. Page.

And now I am sharing a Flowish Journal.

A Flowish Journal is not bound.  It is made to take apart and use for other purposes or in a Journal.

This is a photo of the center.  I used a stretchy piece of elastic I got at Hobby Lobby.  I included several pieces of lace in different colors.

The first page which the center is a wax paper sandwich bag.
Inside the bag I placed a sewn piece I made from paper and fabric scraps.  I love making these.
I included a magnetic book mark
I am so sorry you can't see this pretty color.  I dyed some paper using Raspberry Kool Aid.

A pattern guide from a horse show.  Lots of cool space to write.
A pretty picture I photo copied from one of my gardening books.
Junk Journals contain Junk. This is a page from a Drivers Education handbook.
I love to include this paper I bought at Hobby Lobby.  It came on a roll and was marked down to $2.00.
That was a bargain.  I am not even sure what it is used for.
It takes dye really well.  I left this one plain.
I folded it to make a pocket and added a Journaling card.
Interesting color and design.  This paper is lined on the back.
A pretty little bag . . .
Cut from a cereal box.  More Junk.
A paper I dyed and added a piece of ribbon.
A page from a Muffy Bear journal.
I made a Snipit roll and used it as a belly band to hold tags.
A nice piece of paper.
I made a pocket from the instruction page of a sewing pattern.
Stuffed into the pocket.  The gold piece is from a Cigar.  The paper is gorgeous.
A black and white photo
A coring page
A journaling card I made from a hymnal page.
The back is decoupage
A pretty floral page from the picture book
This page had lots of blank space for Journaling.
An Avocado dyed paper.  I left the edges for texture.

And last a page from the picture book.  I like to include some florals.

Everyone likes flowers don't they?

One of my favorite things to do I call Cut & Glue.   Which translates to making Junk Journals.

I love SWAPs it is fun to receive things someone else made.

I hope you enjoyed visiting my little crafting table.

I'll be back soon sharing my next project.
